Dowling became the bride of James Edward Fitzpatrick. son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Fitzpatrick, Bed- forcl. The ceremony was performed by Very Rev. E. Baldwin who also celebrated the Nuptial Mass. To the strains of the wedding march played by Mr. Alex McLean. or- ganist, the bride entered the church on the arm of her step-father. by whom she was given in marriage. The bride looked charming in her wedding gown of white satin with fitted bodice. her floor length veil was held in place by a white crown. The bride was attended by Miss Louise Wedge. who wore a floor length gown of pink taffeta with matching headdress. She carried a bouquet of mixed flowers with pink streamers. After the ceremony a sumptuous breakfast was served at the home or the bride's parents. The table was tastefully decorated and centered with a wedding cake with a min- iature bride and groom on top. The toast to the bride was proposed by the groomsman and I , nded to by the groom. Later amid showers of confetti and good wishes the happy young couple left on a mo- tor trip through the Maritimes. For travelling the bride chose a brown check gabardlne suit with coral colored shortie coat with brown accessoria. On their return they were tendered a reception at the groom's parents. After supper was served pleasant remarks and congratulations were extended by Rev. K. C. McPherson and Rev. Kenneth McMillan. Later in the evening dancing and singing was enjoyed by everyone present. At a late hour all departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick many years of happy wedded life. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzpatrick will re- side at Bedford. As it was the Thanksgiving meet- ing, Mrs. Farquharson had arrang- ed a very festive looking table of autumn leaves, fruits and veget- ables, which made a lovely back- ground for the meeting. The devotional service was led by Mrs. Scranton who opened the meeting by reading. "A Prayer for Guidance", taken from the Mis- sionary Monthly. Mrs. Tait then spent some time on the sliudy book "The United church Re-enters Japan". discussing the new missionaries who were going to Japan this year and the great need of missionary re-en- forcarnents to bring light to Japan at this critical time.
