Large Attendance At Banning School Now in Progress Nearly fifty fish, fruit and veg- etable canners frcm the three Mar- itime Provinces have been "going lo School" in Charlottetown during the past week, but instead of the three R‘s they have been studying SOme of the latest techniques and appliances available to the food packing industry. Their schocl room L; a sectlqn of the American Can Company plant on Esher Street where nine differ- ent types of closing machines and their operation have been under close study. The school, first of its kind to be held in the Mziritimes and which will continue through most of next week, is open- to all packers i.i-i the Marltirries. Established as an aid in helping the Maritime ca-nnirig industry to further improve the high quality of their packs, the school carries out in part a recommendation con- tained in the interim report of the Prince Edward Island Advisory Reconstruction Committee lsst year which called for: “Training in the operation of fish canning, so a; to give the best technique in clean- ing, cutting and packing of can- ned fish, and the efficient opera- sealirig machines."
