eer! January 20, Sports Briefs Well, if we look at the wins for most of the Panther teams we could say that they are gathering experience. It would be nice to have a few more wins for the New year, but that just doesn’t seem to be happening. Most of teams are close to .500 and perhaps a few wins this week will put them over the top. The hockey Panthers have been playing excellent offen- sive hockey. Mike Harding picked ao points last week against STU. Puck Panther Dave Mitchell helped the Panthers go into overtime last week as well by excellent play in the net. New defence man Gary Cooper picked up a goal as well as showing a lot of hustle around the ice. The Panthers continue to shown us the what they are capable of, hopefully they’ Il find the consistency and break .500 again. The men’s basketball team has had bursts of individual leadership on the court so far this year. | haven’t seen the Panthers play to their potential yet. | think that things will change for them if they play like a team instead of individuals. Gotta win to bring the team together and you have to bring the team together to win—- same ol’ story. Mike Moore has been spotted shooting around at the sports centre-- hope that knee heals quickly! The women’s b-ball team is still ranked in first place in the AUAA. The AUAA finals are being held at UPEI so we may have the chance to take it all this year. The veterans and the rookies have been playing really well lately--keep it up girls! Lots of Panther action here next week...the etball panthers are playing UCCB on Sat. at 6 and 8pm. There's volleyball at 3pm on Sat. against Moncton. The puck Panthers play St. FX. At 7pm on Sun. Well, | guess that’s a wrap...see ya at the games.
