Charlottetown August 16,17,18,19 4 -— DAYS —— 4 12 Glasses Only a short time and horsemen throughout the Maritimes will be forwarding their entries for the great racing events which will be held the" week of August 15th to 19th. For years Maritime horsemen. and in fact those furihcr afield, have looked forward to the Charlotte- town races as one of the brightest meets in the entire racing firmn- ment. Here a fast track, beautiful surroundings a glad hand from the management, good treatment, purses paid at the wire and four days rac- ing with classes that fit any horse is assured. The program of twelve events has been planned to give the owner of every kind of worth-while trotter or pacer an opportunity to start. The colt races appeal to many; in fact the juveniles have be- come a prominent part of the Pro- vincial Exhibition racing program because every year they have ex- hibited good racing manners and put up good contests. This year's Futurities will probably be the best of all time with larger fields of starters and as good. if not better, quality performers.‘ The remaining classes are the popular events that bring the best and fastest horses racing in the eastern section of Canada together. Here the equine stars of Sydney, Halifax, Bridgewater, Saint John, Moncton, Truro, Amherst and oth- er Maritime towns will meet and the livliest kind of competition re- suit. One of the popular features with horseman in connection with the Provincial Exhibition is the awards to owners, drivers and grooms. The Macdonald Tobacco Company of Montreal will again present the Bri- tish Consols Trophy to the driver who scores the most points during the four day's racing. A cut of it appears elsewhere on this page. This gift from the popular tobacco company is much appreciated and everywhere horsemen speak of it with interest. It will no doubt be the means of increasing the rivalry among the great reinsmcn who will be here in mid-August. The track, always n fast and safe one, has been further improved by re-soiling and will be as fast as it can possibly be made. Arrange- ments for free truckage of horses to and from the grounds will be con- tinued and all trains with race horses will be met promptly. All horses must be declared in at eleven o’clock on the morning prior to thc race to permit the management to have score cards printed with tllc actual starters and thus prevent confusion due to a number of horses being on the score card which have been drawn. In addition to the racc program of four days, August 16th to 19th, an outstanding line of vaudeville and other entertainment has been secured.
