Thursday afternoon. June 10 a W. M. S. rally was held in the United Church Margate.wlth a large number of members pro- lent: the theme. "To Live is to Give." Mrs. Stanley Thompson and Mrs. C. D. Maiheson were lead- en. The worship service was con- ducted by the Clinton' W.M.S. .Hlllard Woodaida Mrs. Charles Woodsidc read scripture lesson and Mr s. Edison Bsaney led in prayer. Mrs. F. Cutclifie, Presbyterial President welcomed members to this. the first summer rally of the year and gave some lnterssting facts tram Dominion Board mast- Ins. She suggested the societies devote more time to study the Bible. Mrs. Mathcson then introduced the question box. Members of the Prcsbytcrial executive wars introduced by Mrs. Thompson and spoke briefly on the different branches of the W.M.S. work. Mrs. Parker. Literature accre- tary introduced the study book for the year. which is on Canada. and gave a review of other litera- turc. Little Melissa Msyhew, member of Msrgata baby band sang s solo. Mrs Thompson inuoduced the guest speaker, Mrs. K. A. Parker a former missionary to Japan. Mrs. Parker with her husband went to Knbue in 1930 as lay teach- ers in an academy where they taught the missionaries' children. They were forced to return to Canada when Japan went to war. She spoke of the great opportunity for missionary work to be done at the present time when the Japan- ese people are looking for some- thing to base their lives on. They have been so disillusioned in their military strength and even their Emperor worship has fall- ed them. The Japanese have well or, 4 schools and hava a higher rate of literacy than Can- ada. She felt that the church in V Japan has one of the world's great- est Christian leaders in the portion of Kagsws. Vi Misses Margaret and Jean Mur- ray. members of Kensington C.G I.T. sang a duct. The treasurcr's report was then read which showed an increase over last year. An interesting report of Dom- inion Board meetings was given by Mrs. R. Mcduslsnd.
