Maud McDonald, Summerslde, receiv-
ed an' oiliciail notice Saturday, inform-
ing her that her son, Gr. Leonard Hazen
McDonald, reported suffering from
shell shock on October 2nd. returned
to regimental duty on October 10th.
Gr. McDonald, son of the late Mr.
John A. Mobomim, is attached to the
fiilth, and had enlisted in Charlotte-
town. His many friends' will be glad
to learn that he is- all right again.
The death of Mr. Charles' Willis,
of Kingston, who passed sway on' Sun-
day, In his 74th yea/r, wilil be regretted
by many friends. He is survived by
his widow and the foilowing_sons:
Herbert, residing on the,-homestead;
Frank B., William, Bertra.m,,and Rob-
ert H., in Kingston; Lemuel and
Charles- in Los Angles, Cal.; and Sam-
uel J., in Vancouver. to all of whom
the deep sympathy of the community
goes out in' their sad bereavement.
The funeral takes place on Tuesday,
at 2 o’clock, to Kingston Cemetery.
-51 YIEARS WEDDED.-Fifty-one
years of married life is a. record of
only a. few of the most favored, and
this distinction belongs to Mr. and
Mrs. Thos. C. Baker, of this' town, says'
the Agrlculturist. On Wednesday even-
ing the immediate members of the
family gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Colin Milligan tn commemor-
ate tba' happy occasion. Their host of
friends' ,loin in congratulating Mr. and
Mrst Baker and wishing them many
more happy years in the evening of
life.

SEAMEN FINED IN PICTOU.-Two
firemen ,of the steamer Cascapedia,
which was- ln’ port at Pictou last week
were tried for_ an aseult on a fnanl
named Wilfrid MacLellan. One of them
was convicted and was fined $2 and
costs. In the case against the other
the costs were assessed on the plain-
tiff, the' case being dismissed.
VICTORIA.-Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Crewe, New York, are spending a
short vacation with the former’s sis-
ter Mrs. Geo. E. Le-ard Crapaud. Mr.
Crewe has not visited his island home
for thirty-Hire years therefore noti-
ces many changes.-The many friends
of Mr. and Mis. Adam Rogcrson will
regret to hear that they are both con-

THE CATHOLICS MISSION,-The
sermon at last evening's mission in
St. Dunstan's Cathedral was on Sin
and preached by Rev. Father Welsh, S.
J.. It was a most impressive and able
discourse and listened to with rapt
attention by a large congregation. The
class conducted by Rev. Father Cox 8.
J., was attended inst evening by about
60 persons, who listened with unllag-
ging attention and interest throughif
out the address. Father Cox is a-
alngularly pleasant speaker. his de-
livery being fluent and picturesque,
while his subject matter is welltem-
persd with an irreprsssible humor.
The masses yesterday morning at 5, 6,
7 and 8 o’cloclr, (themission masses
being at 5 and' 8 o'clock) were well at-
tended and the "Way of the Cross"
was made. last night by a large num-
ber of men. All the Confessions that
could be made, before ten o'elook last
evening, were heard, by the Mission
Fathan assisted by the local priests
and it is expected there will be a big
roll of communicants this morning.
This evening Rev. Father P. J. Ca-
sey will preach on "Everlasting Pu-
riisbment."

Mrs. Catherine' McQuaid took place
yesterday morning from ber late res-
idence, Elm Avenue, to St. Dunstan's

large testifying to the high esteem in
which she was held by her fellow

Alice Trites. daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Alexander Tritos, of this city, became
the bride of Mr. Heber J. Falls; of
Prince Edward Island. Rav. T. Porter
Drumin, pastor of St. Jolm's Presby-
terian church, performed the ceremony
in thef presence of about sixty guests.
The bridg wore a beautiful gown of
white crepe de chene, and carried a
boquet of sweet peas. Aietr luncheon
was' served Mr. and Mrs. Falls left on
a short wedding trip and on their ro-
turn‘ will reside in Moncton. A large
array of useful and handsome gifts
were received by the young couple.
The sudden passing sway of Roy L.
Carew, last Tuehgay, Oct. 24th, cast a
gloom over the community of Bun-
gay, and brought' deepest sorrow into
the home. Deceased was 25 years of
nge, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs.
Edward J. Carew. Besides his pa-
rents 4 sisters and 3 brothers survive
him. Roy was a loving and devoted
son and brother in the home. and was
known throughout the community as
an exemplary young man. In his
early youth he gave himself to_ the
Lord and entered into the fellowship
of the Methodist Church at Wheatley
River, to which he remained loyal and
true. On Friday afternoon a very
large gathering of friends ana' neigh-
bors met at the home to pay a loving
tribute of respect to the memory of
a young brother beloved. and to ex-
press their syinpathetlc regard for
the bereaved family. In the absence
or the pastor. Rev. L. J. Leard, the
services at the house and grave were
and G. A. Sellar. One ofthe largest
funeral processiona seen for a long
time in that part of the country, fol-
lowed the remains to the Wheatley
Rivercemetory where they were laid
to rest, to await “the ressurrection
morn."

clined untill the ond came last night .--
rather suddenly. There are left to
mourn two daughters, Mrs. A. J. Con- '
rad, in Sussex, N. B., and Miss Melita,
at homo; also four sons, Professor ,
J. W. Wailter Jones-,,Anson' W.. Ver-
nor W., in Sydney, and Leighton at
home. The deceased was 62 years of
age. The funeral takes place on
Wednesday at 2 o’clock, interment at
Hazclbrook.
LAID T0 REST.-The funeral of
the late Mrs; Catherine McQurtid took
place from hor residence on Elm Ave.,
yesterday morning to St. Dunstan's
Cathedral. The procession was an
exceptionally larga one and the churcli
was almost filled to capacity., A So-
lemn High Mass of Requiem was cole-
bratcd by Rev. Father Frank Mc-
Quaid. son of the deceated, with Rev.
Father Leo Herrsll, as deacon, and
Rev. Father F. L. Cox, S. J., its
sub-deacon; while the rector, Rev. Fa-
ther Maurice McDonald acted as Mas-
ter of ceremonies. The altar was
draped with purple in honor of His
Lordship the Bishop of Chaglottotnwn
who assisted at the Mass a did also

the men's and boys choirs in an ex-
cellent manner. After the service
the cortege reformed and proceeded
to the Catholic Cemetery where
the body was laid to rest, the last
words being pronounced by Rev. Fa-
ther Frank McQunId. The pall hear-
ers for this funeral were: Messrs
Frank Keoughan, Hugh Connors.

Hughes, Peter Bradley and Alderman
P. A. Smith.
