The above work contains most usefu! and interest- ing information on the physiological changes which oceur in the Reproductive System during the periods of youth, puberty, and manhood ; and on the due attainment of that degree of functional vigour upon which the hopes of posterity depend. it also points out how ail the attributes of Manhood can be preserved to an advanced period of life, how they are lost, and how they can be recovered. It is free from the gross exaggerations, alarming descriptions, and dangerous remedies so generally resorted to by persons, who, practising with false medical qualifications, inflict most serious injuries, and render judicious treatment frequently abortive. The Author is the only legally qualified practi- tioner whose name stands on the ‘ Medical Register ’ (the sole test of medical qualification), who has been exclusively engaged for a series of years in the treatment of the various functional disorders of the nervous and reproductive system, which, owing to the great discoveries of modern science, are render- ed subs?rvient toa rational, simple, and easy mode ot treatment. Its subscribed ea- pital is £2,000,000 sterling, and its invested funds alone amount to £/1,312,000 stg.; and the fire pre- miums for 1361 ame@uat to £360,130 19s 9d; and in ad- dition to this very large capital, the Company, having been established before the reeent Limited Liability Act, the individual fortunes of each of the shareholders, comprising some of the wealthiest merchants in Liverpool and London, are liable for the losses, should the whole of the eapital be swept away. In this respect it differs, it is believed, from any other Company established here. And lastly, the Agent being appointed by Power of Attorney directly from England, is authorised to draw Bills the moment a loss occurs, and without referring to the Home Company, to the extent of one thousand pounds sterling. With these saperior advantages, the Company is not disposed (though it might be well justified) te ask a higher rate of premium than other English Companies, which do not present the same advan- tageous features, and the Agent has been advised that an uniform rate has been agreed upon by the | | | } Tr peentiar taint or infection which we call Scroruta lurks in the constitutions of multitudes of men. It either produces or is produced by an en- \ fecbled, vitiated state ib of the blood, wherein ¥ }/ # hat fluid becomes in- ids: PAU competent to sustain MISTRY Dycigeg the vital forees in their a vigorous action, and S-\. “leaves the system to ts. fall into disorder and decay. The scrofulous contamination is va- riously caused by mere urial disease, low living, disordered digestion from unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitution, descending “from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation;” indeed, it scems to be the rod of Him who says, ‘I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children.” The diseases it originates take various names, according to the organs it attacks. In the lungs, Scrofula produces tubercles, and finally Consumption, in the glands, swellings which suppurate and be- come ulccrous sores; in the stomach and bowels, derangements which produce indi- gestion, dyspepsia, and liver complaints ; on the skin, eruptive and cutaneous affections. These, all having the same origin, require the same remedy, viz., purification and invigora- tion of the blood. Purify the blood, and these dangerous distempers leave you. With feeble, foul, or corrupted blood, you cannot have health; with that “life of the flesh” healthy, you cannot have serofulous disease. Ayer’s Sarsaparilla is compounded from the most effectual anti- dotes that medical science has discovered for this afflicting distemper, and for the cure of the disorders it entails. That it is far supe- rior to any other remedy yet devised, is known by all who have given itatrial. That it does combine virtucs truly extraordinary | with Sores of the Gums, Cankers in tie Mouth, Sore | Sider the in their effect upon this class of complaints, is indisputably proven by the great nultitude of publicly known and remarkable cures it has made of the following diseases: King’s Evil, or Glandular Swellings, Tumors, Eruptions, Pimples, Blotches and Sores, Erysipelas, Rose or St. Anthony's Fire, Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Coughs from tuberculous deposits in the lungs, White Swellings, Debility, Dropsy, Neuralgia, Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Syphilis and Syphilitic Infections, Mercurial Diseases, emale Weaknesses, 2nd, indeed, the whole serics of complaints that arise from impurity of the blood. Minute reports of individual cases may be found in AYER’s AMERICAN Atmanac, which is furnished to the druggists for gratuitous distribution, wherein may be learned the directions for its use, and some of the remarkable cures which it has made when all other remedies had failed to afford relief. Those cases are purposely taken from all sections of the country, in order that every reader may have access te some one who can speak to him of its benefits from personal experience. Scrofula depresses the vital energies, and thus leaves its victims far more subject to disease and its fatal results than are healthy constitutions. Hence it tends to shorten, and does greatly shorten, the average duration of human life. The vast importance of these considerations has Jed us to spend years in perfecting a remedy which is adequate to its eure. This we now offer to the public under the name of Arrr’s SaRsaPaRILLa, although it is composed of ingredients, some of which exceed the best of Sarsaparilla in alterative power. By its aid you may protect yourself from the suffer- ing and danger of these disorders. Purge out the foul corruptions that rot and fester in the blood, purge out the causes of disease, and vigorous health will follow. By its pecu- liar virtues this remedy stimulates the vital functions, and thus expels the distempers which lurk within the system or burst out on any part of it. We know the public have been deceived by many compounds of Sarsaparilla, that promised much and did nothing; but they will neither be deceived nor disappointed in this. Its virtues have been proven by abun- dant trial, and there remains no question of its surpassing excellence for the cure of the afflicting diseases it is intended to reach. Although under the same name, it is a very different medicine from: any other which has been before the people, and is far more ef- fectual than any other which has ever been available to them. Before presenting this wonderful eleansing rem- edy to the North American publie, Dr. Kapwar was determined to test its medicinal powers for the | cure of the class of diseases for which it is prescribed in the South American Provinces, as it is a fact well known to all physiologists that SCROFULA, LEPROSY, SYPHILIS, and its horrible train of coneomitaats, prevail in the tropical regions of the South, to a much greater and more walignant degree than in the North. In fact there is searcely a family in any of the Seuth Am- erican Provinces that is free from Serofula, or its kindred diseases. It rons in the blood of all its people, and has become established as a constita- tional infirmity, and bas baffled the skill of their best physicians. With knowledge of these facts, Dr. Rapwey was determined to test the accuracy of RADWAY’S RENOVATING RESOLVENT, which was prepared expressly to meet the exigen- cents per box, (each box contains thirty pilis,) by Druggists, Merchants and Storekeepers. A QUESTION OF THE MILLION ANSWERED. nOW 18 IT THAT RADWAY’S READY RELIEF Possesses such wonderful remedial powers as to cure 20 many diseases of apparently opposite phenomena? We reply that Radway’s Ready Relief chief and most important remedial efficacy, is evinced in the immediate arrest of pain, and its potency in the treatment of such diseases and maladies, where pain is a concomitant of the disease. Diseage, like the storm, gives unmistakeable signs of its approach. At first the threatened patient ex- periences a slight discomfort, this followed with pain tc a greater or leas extent, and other symptoms fol- jow in rapid succession. It is in this condition of the system where Radway’s Ready Kelief will be found all-potent. Its administration, either inter- nally or externally, as the seat of pain indicates, will arrest the progress of the threatened disease, and quickly relieve the patient from ali pain or dis- comfert.
