Berry- man resumed the inquest into the death of Willie Doherty, the seventeen year _old August _4th, Fred Goodspeed, aged 14, told a terrible story of youthful crime. He swore that on Friday afternoon, Aug. lst, he saw Frank Higgins aged sixteen kill Doherty, Bring four shots at him and then pounding him on the' head with the revolver butt. Goodspeed and Higgins were under ar- rest on suspicion of being implicated in the crime. _On Saturday last Goodspeed told the police all, but they kept the story back until the inquest was resumed tonight. ' In his evidence Goodspeed said he and Higgins and Doherty went to the-Park on the fatal afternoon on Higgins’ invitation to get a. feed of berries. As __they walked picking the berries Goodspeed was ahead, Doherty next and Higgins in the rear Goodspeed says he heard four shots and heard Doherty cry; “My God, Higgie you’ve shot me.” _ _ Doherty ran up a hill, Higgins chasihg lad, found dead near Rockwood Pnrlz ‘on '“ herty with the weapon.
