It isa volume of 165 pages, and contaius an amount of information indispensable to citizens. On examination, we find it is equal to its predecessor of 1554. This says a good deal in its favor. The mechanical work was performed by Mr. Jobn Coombs. The neat appearance of the almanac reflects credit on him. —_.>--—- We were shown the other day a very hand- some Medal, presented to the 2nd Battery of Artillery by L. H. Davies, Esq., M. P. It is a Gold Medal of very neat desiyn, made by J. R. Harper & Co., of Montreal. It was competed for semi-annually, and was won by Lieut. J. A. Longworth in three successive niatches, According to the rales which governed the matches, Lieut Longworth is now the sole owner. In these days of sharp competitions it is not often that a marksman comes off first in three matches successively. We conyratulate Lieut. Longworth on winning so fine a prize in such a creditable manner. Tue Christmas Tree and Tea at the Convent de Notre Dame, to morrow evening, will be well worth attending.
