Some of the major, and most interesting, piefes of jegislation were the repeal ofan act prohi- biting the sale of margarine in the province and a new act set- ting regulations for the sale of the butter substitute; an act dncorporaing Industrial Enter- prises Incorporated, a com- pany to promote industrial de- velopment; an act setting up a provincia! water authority that will have powér to control pol- fution problems; and an act that will permit county court judges to perform marriage ce- remonies. INVESTIGATIONS FIZZLFE “Two investigations into gev- ernment affairs promoted by the opposition fizzled out in the wildest sitting of the session two weeks ago. A Liberal member charged political interference in the making of appointments to the public service by the civil ser- vice commission. When a com- mittee of the House investigat- ed the charges, however, Liber- als did not take part in the in- vestigation and the committee concluded the charges were made in error.
