Mr. J. F. Arnett, Summerslde. is, in receipt of the following letter re- garding the testing of cattle for the province of Prince Edward Island: Ottawa, June 26, 1934 J. F. Amett. Fsq., Summerslde. P. E. I. Dear Mr. Arnett,-Your letter of the Zlst inst. received with reference to a report that the Province of Prince Edward Island is to be dis- continued as a restricted area. This report is not correct, and is probably due to the fact that a gen- i eral test of the cattle on the Island | has not been conducted for the past live years. The Department, how-, ever, contemplates undertaking a- tvst next 7'r.":‘, rv. .1 six year period 1 will then have expired. Allan MacMillan her father and co-plaintiff ln the suit which alleged seduction was awarded $5,- 000. Rc-organization of the cabinet and formation of a coalition gov- ernment to include Conservatives, Independents and Labor was con- sidered highly probable. Prior to the caucus the Premier insisted the members accept his resignation which foreshadowed the resignation of the cabinet. Hon. George Headley was men- iioncd as li possible successor to Premier Brownlee to head a coalit- ion government. Mir. Hoadley, Minister' of Health and Telephones in the present government, has been a member of the House since 1909. He has held cabinet rank since 1921. From the seclusion of his home Premier' Brownlee issued a state- ment to the press, the first since Justice W. C. Ives announced Sat- urday night he disagreed with the jury award and declined to enter the verdict. The Premier declared he had notified Lieutenant Governor J. W. Walsh on Saturday evening of his intention to resign the Pre- micrslllp, "I requested him to allow me a few days to clean up matters rc- quiring my immediate attention and to enable my supporters to nomin- ate a successor." Mr- Brownlee intimated he had made no personal plans for the future other than that he intend. ed to remain in the province. Fricndsbclicved he would return to his law practice which he de- serted for the larger field of poll. tics, some years ago. Meanwhile speculation was rife as to the outcome of the gov/gm. ment caucus. All cabinet ministers were in attendance among the 34 members assembled.
