These are bu~y days in the Royal City.
At all houses from morning until night
throngs of people are coming and going by
train and beam. The streets are astir
with' eager sight seers. The obj\ ctive
point of the crowds is without doubt a
large limestone structure situated in the
market place and adjoining the City Hall.
Guelph is where the Ontario Provincial
Show is now in progress. All day long the
human tide surges about the entrances
strlving to gain speedy admission. We do
not Wonder at the rush and excitement for
within is tobe found what is without a
doubt the finest display of fat stock ever
sleek fat cattle greet the eye of the visitor.
Here loo may be seen hundreds of plump
trim looking sheep and many pens of
wr-ll fed hogs. '
The dairying industry is also represent-
ed by a lor of twenty-five or more cows
mhde up of the different dairy breeds and
s ime grade-1. The prizes in this class w»ll
be given for superiority of performance
alone. A section of the grand floor is fit-
ted up as n lecture room where illu~tra\.ed
lectures are given on the different classes
of live st .ick and also on dressed carcasses.
The killing takes place in a wing of the
main building which has been specially
fitted for the purpose. -
The second floor is occupied entirely By
the exhibits of live and dressed poultry.
“ The display of beef cattle is large and
is made up of repr.>_sentatives ofthe Shorz-
Horn, Pollefi Angus, Hereford, L-alloway
ard Devon breeds. The Shorthorns have
carried ofa large sh are of the prizes. The
sweepstakes prize for the best iat animal
was won hy a Shorthorn steer which war
under 3 years old, and weighed 1,860
pounds. This steer and a3 year old Short-
horn heifer, 1,940 pounds belonging to the
same owner who won the prize for be st
pair of fat cattle. These two animals
were sold at the high figure of ten cents
per pound live weight. _ A grade Short-
horn steer was on exhibifion which
weighed 2,700 lbs. The exbibiiioi three

11th, and we are pleased to note mani-
fested a lively interest in all the proceed~

Dryden were in attendance at all times
taking an active part in the direction . I
the Fair. Un the evening of W ednesday
the 11th, a large and intelligent audience
assembled in the _City Hall where address-
es were delivered by Dr. Jas. Mills, Presi-
dent of the Ontario Agriculture College,
Hon. Sydney Fisher, Minister of Agricul-
ture for Canada and Hon. G; W. Ross,
Premier of Ontario. On Friday the
visitors left for their respective homes
