From that point on, however. -they went different ways At Table 1, south drew trumps, then finessed to the dia- mond queen, evidently ” ' that if the king was on side, there would also be a 3-3 break of the suit which would provide the tenth trick. This optimistic plan was nip- ped ln the bud when the diamond queen lost to must .and. as a mat- ter of fact, this deciarer went down two tricks. losing two spades, a club and two diamcnds. He is bigger than another cousin, Billy Mink. and Billy is big- ger than shadow. It is fartunlite that they do not all live in the same neighbca-hood because there is no love between these cousins. Spite loves the deep woods of the Great Mountain. He doesn't like water. Indeed, he dislikes it. You will us: find spite in swimming. Billy Mink loves water and you seldom find him far from it. He is a wonderful swimmer. He loves to catch and eat fish. Spits loves to eat fish, hut he never would have any if someone else did not catch them for him. Little shadow the weasel is at home wherever he may be. He loves to visit henyards. There he gets. in great mischief by killing hens and ohickem. He is ectlv at home armmd the buildings of Man but he is just as much at home in the Green Forest. Now over in the Green Forest the were facing each other a short dist- ance apart. They were glaring at each other. Yes, sir, they were do- ing just that. It isn't a nice thing for relatives to glare at each other. Of ocurse not. The truth is shadow knew his big cousin would just as soon catch him for dinner as any- one else just then. Yet small as he was, Shadow wasn't afraid. There is no one among all the folks in fur bolder or with less fear than little Shadow the Weasel. That is because he has a wonderful opinion of himself and his ability to take care of himself. He is quick. No one is quicker. and at all times wherever he is, he always knows where the nearest hole is in which he can find shelter. He always knows the nearest safe hiding- place.
