Well it is Christmas time again (almost, I guess) and everyone is off to do their shopping for everyone else. Happiness and bliss are in the air and money is flowing like hot syrup from everyone’s pockets. This is the time of year when we are to show our feelings for each other by buying gifts. Ofcourse, the gift you used to show your feelings is identical to the gifts millions of others used to express themselves too. Whata coincidence! It seems that every ounce of individuality has been removed from christmas gift giving over the past number of years. Even worse, Christmas has become nothing more then yet another commercial holiday for store owners to rake in more profits. There is no such thing as someone having christmas spiritanymore. How could there be when the Christ- mas catalogues come out at the same time as our bathing suites do, and stores decorations are up before the temperature go down. Christmas spirit is forced upon each one of us, no longer is it something hat grows as each day closer to Christmas comes. We ire brainwashed into starting our shopping as early as he boxing day sales. Jow can we try to get back to the way christmas hould be? I’m not sure, but I do think that we need 0 stop equating Christmas with going toa store and uying a gift. This year I am trying something new. | im going to try to make some of my gifts for people. do this for two reasons: it shows that I would go hrew the trouble to take the time to actually risk my ife to give the effort to make a gift, and second I 1AVE NO MONEY. EvenifI did have the money | robably would have the same idea (or should I say deals?). low lam sure that the people I make my gifts for “ill appreciate them since most of them know whata Teat risk I put myself in when I pick up a hammer hd saw. Even if they don’t, I still will be happy with l¢ knowledge that! SAVED MONEY!! , nov that aving money is important but rather it is a necessity elhave none, I think this should be the ultimate solution to all those students who seem to be a little short on cash, as lam. I guess this is my little way of trying to put some meaning back into Christmas, besides, Iam too old for mutant ninja turtles this year. Waiting for St. Nick, Com Lary.
