Bride-Elect Honoured At Tea -An ouutanding social event of the fall season took place at Bor- den Friday, September 12th, when Mrs. H. W. Bernard and Mrs. W. S. Jardine were joint hostesses at an afternoon tea. and personal shower at the home of the for- mer, in honour of Miss Mary Muttart of Carleton. The guests were received by the sister of the bride-to-bo, Mrs. John Haslam. The house was prettiiy decorat- ed for the occasion with white wedding bells and white stream- ers. The dining room table with its lace cloth. centered with silver baskcm of white gladloli and tall white tapers. which were lighted at the tea hour, was a picture of daintiness. Mrs. Walter Farmer of Borden, representing the teachers. (of which Miss Muttart. formerly was onei, and Mrs. Blanche Harper, representing the people of Car- leton, poured tea. Mrs. George Sharp replenished, and assisting the hostesses in serving were Mrs. Harold Coggins, Mrs. Earle Saw- ler, Mrs. Everett MacLeod and Mi's. Heath Gordon. Mrs. Earl Saivlcr had charge of the guest book. A daintily decorated basket of personal articles for the bride-to- Borden School under the 'D0nI0l'r ship of the Women's Institute. Lunches were served to all the donors. The Dental Clinic again notified the Institute they are coming the second week in September, when all Grade I children from the surrounding districts receive den- tal care. Mrs. J. J. Mclsaac agreed to give the doctor and his assist- ants meals. and the Borden Hotel will provide lodging, to be paid for by the Women's Institute. A discussion arose as to ways and means to help pay the Clinic expenses, and a motion was made by Mrs. J. V. MacDonald, second- ed by Mrs. P. J. Mclnnis and car- ried. that a pantry sale be held in October. Each munber volunteered to get a. new member before next meet- ing. which will be held at Mrs. Norman Oatway's with Mrs. Wm Mclvor and Mrs. Colin Love on the lunch committee.
