In the Tarte-McGreeyy case, yesterday the committee decided to obtain the usais- tance and evidence of expert engineers as to the value of the alteration in the con- tracts. Simon Gelders, an unsuccesatu] tenderer, gave important testimony as to the value of work done. There were two severe thunder storms, with torrents of rain, here yesterday. A dwelling house was shattered, and windows were broken in the Parliament building, but no one was hurt. Investigation into the Department of the Interior disclosed further irregularities, resulting in the suspension of more clerks, Irish Land Bill. Lonpon, July 15. Havirax, July 16.—Codfish are repor- ted very plentiful off English Bay, Anti- costi: at River John, Hunter River, Moi- sig River, Magpie River, Seven Islands and Sheldrake, Que., fair; at Long Point and Paspebiac fair catches are being made. At Point Escumniac, N. B., Margaree, and Arichat, C. B., White Head and Digby, N. S. :Fishermen report good fishing at North Bay and Port Medway, N.S., but at the latter place very little ,bait is obtain- able and dogtish are beginning to be troub- lesome. Trawlersare doing well in the cod and haddock fisheries at Campbell's, N. B.; line fishermen fairly. The hake and haddock fisheries are reported very good at Digby, N. S.; haddock tair at Whitehead.j Herringjare reported very plentiful at English Bay, Antabn'sh.
