gical operation yesterday which his

himself. It appears that some time
agohlr. McKinnon while on the placid
waters of the historic Morell in eager
search of the llnuy tribe had the misfor-
tuneto have a (ish hook embedded
in his hand. The point broke of butvt
the time nothing serious was though of
the occurrence. As the days sped on how-
ever the injured part began to be painful
and it became imperative that something
should be done. Yesterday an operation
was performed by Dr. McLaughlin at
his residence and today Mr. McKinnon s
much improved.
THE Assembly Hall at P. W. College

chair was occupied by Mrs. Thompson,
Pre sident of the National Council and on
the platform besides the speakers were
Mrs. P. A. Mclntyre. The iirat speaker
was Mrs. Cummings. She told of the
origin of the Council, its objects and the
grand work it was doing throughout Can-
ada at the present time from the Atlantic
to the Pacific. Rev. Mr. Fullerton follow-
ed in an eloquent address in aporobation
ofthe work of the Council. In the course
of an admirable eration he referred to the
prevalence of tuberculosis and commend-
ed the Council for the improvement tht y
had made in the condition of the Foor
House. Dr. Anderson spike on the educ-
ational aspects along the lines of domes-
me economy and hygiene and commend-
ed the Council for its philanthropic work.
During the evening vocal snlcs were given
by Miss Fitzgerald and Rev. Leo Will-
iams, After a vote of thanks moved ty
Mrs. Gardiner and sc conded by Mrs.
Bartlett to those who had assisted the
