NEW YORK IAPI-The stock market took its worst beating last week since the week of Sept. 25- the first reaction to President Eisenhower's heart attack. . The Associated Press average of 60 stocks declined S730 to 3177.40. Following Eisenhower's attack it fell 58.20 in the week. The average now is 314.10 be- low the record high which it reached on April 6 but is still 35.80 above its low for this year reached Jan. 23. It had lost more than two-thirds of the rise from January to April. This was not an encouraging omen from the technician's viewpoint. It was the third straight week that the market had gone down. Throughout the week. with good news or had from public figures in business and government. the market seemed to be following that kind of technical reaction pat- tern. As one analyst put it. "con fidence remains good. but it will be some time before enthusiasm reappears."
