The object was to try to form a united association of these two anxlliaries. Mrs. W. K. Rogers pro sided, and made the following propos- al on behalf of the Army and Navy Lndles' Auxiliary: namely. that this Auxiliary was quite willing to dlsband if the Great War Veterans' Auxillury would do likewise. Then. a united -society could be formed, their sole ob- ject _being the welfare of the soldiers. The matter was well discussed at con- siderable length, but nothing definite was accomplished. As lt appeared to bc the feeling of the Executive of the Great War Veterans' Auxiliary that their name be retained even though both societies united the matter was left open until September, for further consideration on the part of the Great War Veterans' Auxiliary. The moot- ing thcn adjourned. NOEL DEBLOI8 GASSED. - Mr. George DeBlois, of DeBlois Bros., re- ceived a cable yesterday advising him that his brother. Mr. Noel H. Dell!-:ls had been gassed, but nn further pur- ticulars were given. lt will be rc- membered that Mr. DeBlol3 enlisted as a gunner in the Eighth Canadian Siege Battery in the year 1916, and went over to Franco in the spring of 1017. and has since been steadily on the tiring line with the exception oi' a two weeks’ furlough. While in Eng- land he had the opportunity of taking a commission. but he felt that the need for men was greater in France. and he went over as a gunner at one dollar and ten cents per- day. to tctko his part in the great world struggle. ln a recent letter received from him he mentioned that owing to eulierlng from deafness he had been take! oil the guns and placed in the ofllco ubout two miles behind the line, but he stut- ed that he did not want any honorary title or "bomb proof" job. and hc would get back to the guns the ilret opportunity. and judging from yester- day's cable lt is evident that his plans were carried out. Further particul- ars regarding the condition of this gallant young soldier will be anxious~ ly awaited by his relatives andnumcr- ous friends.. _ "BINDER `TWlNE.- Carter dt Co., Ltd., have just received 25,000 lbs of the Celebrated ‘Green Shesf' Brand.
