In the _fall of the same year i` the tlrst meeting was held and it proved so successful that the future of Champion- ships remained no longer in doubt. For years the athletes of St. John, Moncton, Truro, Picton, Amherst, Hali- fax, Kentville and other Maritime towns sent their picked men who struggled for the laurel wreaths of victory. But Halifax, represented by that powerful and wealthy athletics organization The Wanderers, always carried od' the fruits of victory with an overwhelming majori ty of points. In 1397 a new factor appeared in the arena of sports, andCharlottetown, for the first time sent forth its representatives who although numerically small, rolled upa surprising total of points. The' Wanderers again secured the coveted points, but by a narrow margin. This year Halifax has put forth its best edbrts. At a large expense a trainer has been secured who has .devoted all his time and ability to furthering the athletic proclivities of the yonng men of that city. Although not enjoying -the advantages which a skilled trainer can give, our boys have inhaled sufficient of the spirit of Spartanism which the clear air ofPE.
