Mr. Gillespie testified to the tind- lng of a. diamond ring about three months ago, belonging to Mrs. Churchill, a visitor to the Province. lie was walking along Richmond Street between Queen and Great George in company with Miss Stanley and Miss Florence Sin- nott. Miss Stanley was walking on the inside. and wi-tnees alleged he called her attention to some- thing glittering on the step of Miss D0ri0n's mllllnery store, which she picked up and which proved to be a valuable diamond ring. They first thought it to be 0i‘ no parti- cular value . Witness bargained that is was to ‘be a "fifty-fifty" find. Later, he declared Miss Stanley agreed to this at lrivl»n‘s shop, but when she secured the $25 reward. refused to give him his share. lie then brought suit against her.
