Editor and Publisher of Canadian silver l-‘iox a Fur this magazine became the Association's omcial pressorgan and each member re- ceives this monthly periodical as ii membership privilege. Fur Marketirii The marketing branch of the Association's activities is a very important one. Through it comes the returns from each client's sale of the pe‘.t product of his ranch. It» affords the answer to the question: "What sm I getting out of this fur business?" The pelt season may be said to begin ‘with the month of Novemb- er. From November 1st, 1984 until the present time the Fur Marketing Department of the Canadian Na- tional Silver Fox Breeders’ Associa- tion prepared for sale and" for- warded to the markets of London. Paris and Montreal nearly 40.000 silver fox pelts of which less than 1-4 of 1 ‘per cent now remain un- sold. This means practically a clean slate in ‘beginning .the coming season's fur disposals. In the matter of quantity of iurs offered. the percentages sad-and the prices received at the London October sales of lsstyear in com- parison with this Y'all‘: sale these are as follows: October Sales "On the October sales of 1934 only 00 per cent. of 28,995 skins or- fered were sold, leaving about 10.000 skins unsold on October 12th. while this year '10 per cent of the 11,150 skins offered were sold lelvifls unsold early 1n OcVober less than 4.000 pelts of the past season's offerings.’ while the prices in sterling, with the exception of those for lull silvers and low 878095. were better than they were a year ago. Besides the exchange is more favorable being about $4.98 to the pound against $4.81 in October 1034. In the case oi half silvers the average price in October 193i was $38-29; this year the av- erage prioe for half silvers was M802 or 86.03 better price per pelt in October of‘ this year than in October 1004." The Fur Marketing Department in its very satisfactory disposal of such a. quantity of furs is certain. ly concluding a most suwessful season. The largely increased re- ceipts of 1934-85 together with the expressed and implied appmvg] or the Department's services by its increasing thousands of shippers are plainly indicative. of yet larger receipts during the coming season, provision for which has- already been made by an enlarged and im- proved plant with all necessary additional equipment.
