.. M»F-n_».s_~.._»... . "Se‘rlior Class “Rein” Heaven Approximately 35 people 5howed up for the 4th general senior class meeting. Many subjects were dis- cussed and some decisions were reached. I will give a brief summary of events of that meeting. It was mentioned that "ringwdaysflewsuldebe. NOV. these dayshany senior _ who wants a grad- uation ring may go to the bookstore and see the representative from the ring company. At time of ordering a deposit of $15 is required and the balance will be due when ring arrives. > Friday December 10/76 was the date set for the Liz Burke’s Report; their names included will . then be able to give their Charlottetown address and telephone number. The possibility of an anti—calendar has been men— tioned between faculty exe— cutive and student union executive as well as other areas of faculty—student re— lations. Nothing definite has resulted but hopefully something more concrete will be done next semester ( that is if we have a stu- dent union next semester). Press releases this se— mester have been few and far between but the student union has not really had anything newsy to release. One notable exception could have been National tudent 9V n Senior Class Party. The party will be held again at the Federation of Labour Hall. Watch the ‘Cadre and signs for more details. There was a great deal of discussion on convocation speaker. Ken Doiron pre- sented the recommendations from his committee for "convocation speaker. After voting on each speaker, the ,meeting chose three names to be forwarded to Senate as being our choices for convocation speaker.‘ It was also decided that Ken'S‘ committee look at more pos—; sibilities and present them to the class so that we would have two more names for a total of five sug- from front page :Day but since nothing was done by council, the news- papers did not have a story. At UPEI there was no NSD. Admittedly there has not been much done this semester but it is very dificult to accomplish anything with no support. This is precisely why the General Meeting is being held‘on Dec.2. As far as my job goes, if anyone has any complaints and/or sugges- tions please let me know be— cause, otherwise, there is no way for me to know what you ate thinking. Our Student Union could be successful V with your help and concern. "BEST ROCK MOVIE OF THE YEAR" —Ro|ling Stone, LA. Reggae was born and grew in these slums, and so was the film that brings the raw world of reggae and Jamaican grass to the screen for the first time. The slums of West Kingston weren't just a location for The Harder Th this film, for here is hope andideep depression, anger and love. Every day hundreds of kids flock into the slums of Kingston from the hillsides of Jamaica, drawn by the promise of the transistor, sure that they can get it if they really Want. Jimmy Cliff was one of those kids and that dream is at the root of his music; For him the dream came true. But for most many rivers to cross is a pre ineg needs people who can at least read and write. This‘is the first feature from Jamaica to I Come, they gave it birth and they gdveit life. Within a couple of weeks details and rules will be issued so people can plan for this over Xmas holidays. At the meeting the problem of finances was brought up. Practically group or organi- zation is short of money and we are no exception. We feel though that the lottery and the marathon were a good start but that we have by no means solved the problems. The Senior Week commit- tee will be meeting this week to develop a tenative schedual for Senior week which will ' be taken to the next general meeting. Another item mentioned at the meeting was that of attendance. the past it has been poor, for ex— ample 30/260. Those present at this meeting couldn't find an immediate solution. In closing I would like to remind you that the 'Class of 77' is you class and if YOU become involved the whole claSs will benefit. If you have any comments or questions do not hesitate in contacting any member of the executive.
