clothed in its unequalled summer ver-
dure, uuequalled in any portion of the
wide continent across which we travelled.
It was a pleasure to see so much improve-
ment in farms and farm buildings, the lat-
ter nearly all being clean and white. The
general appearance of the country appear-
ed to have changed somewhat; especially
what I used to consider high elevations
had lost to me considerably in altitude,
making the country take on a very much
inore level appearance than when I used
to travel over its highways. Charlotte-
town has moved forward with consider-
able rapidity. The buildings especially
around Queen’a square are much improv-
ed, .md the streets are much superior to
what they were in former years. It was
n great pleasure to see my tlenr old hotne
looking so prosperous; and still more
pleasant to meet so many faces that I
knew in youth and earlier uianhood, and
although the withering hand of time is
being laid on many of them yet their
hearts are as dear and as warm as in days
of yore. Our visit of three months was
‘none too long to enjoy the hearty hospi-
,talily of our niauy friends and relatives
I in St. Eleanors, Suntmerside, Fredericton,
‘ Cavendish, New _ Glasgow, Rnstico,
Charlottetown, West River, Lot 48, etc.,
also our numerous friends in Boston.
