Ginger Boy. 2.16%. who took his record in a ilve heat winning race at the recent Philadelphia meeting, is a five year old bay gelding by Andrew Russell, dam Lady Flasher. He is owned by E. B. Garrison, of Wild- wood, N. J. The mile track at Montreal where the Grand Circuit horses will race for six days, is being rsclayed. llitherto the track has been used exclusively for running races, and will have to be given a firm top dressing before the harness horses can be expected to race over it. Nat Ray has sold Black Cat, 2.10% by Harry McKerron 2.24%, to' L. H. Edmunds, Blenheim. Ont., who will use her as s brood mare. She lost a coli; last year by Gratten Royal. She trotted in 2.08% at Cleveland. two years ago, but was not a consistent race' mare. The $20,000 2.06 pace raced at San Francisco recently, was won by White Sox. from the Durmfree stable. with Hal Boy second. O. U. C. third and, Beaver 'fourth. The race went ilve heats; White Sox winning the first two in 2.05%. 0. U. C. the third_in 2.07%. and l-lal Boy the fourth and fifth in 2.07% and 2.09%. The record of the old Kenosa track at _Have`rhl_ll, Mass.. was lowered at the' recent meeting there by Miss De- norest. the speedy daughter of the De- forest, covering the second mile oi the 2.10 pace in 2.09%. Griffin, of Dorchester, Mass., purchas- ed the trotting gelding Early Boy, 2.10%, and Chauncey H. Sears. of Fall iRiver, bought Director Todd. 2.13%, both winners at the meeting. A refreshing feature of the nomin- ations for the Halifax stakes is the apparent preponderance of green trot- ters, which seems to be in a large majority over the pacers. The list of eighteen nominations for the 2.40 trot stake is almost equalled by thc number for the 2.30 trot. The suggestion is made that the racing rules be changed so that in scoring for a first heat of a race if a horse breaks before reaching the wire he can be made to score in last place in tho remaining scores, if any, for that heat. The idea seems to be to put 'the bad actors on the last tier where they will not interfere with the other starters. Among the starters in the races at Souris on the 22nd' will be Mayor Todd, 2.18%. "Ham" Kelly is fitting the Mayor for the event, and he is rapidly rounding into shape. Follow- ing thc Souris races Mayor Todd will be seen on other Island and mainland tracks. It is also possible that he may be taken over the line for racing purposes. There are three events on the card for the Souris races on July 22nd, vis., 9, 2.19 trot, a 2.30 trot and pace and a 3 minute trot and pace for Klng's County horses only. The purses will be $175 for the first two races ami $100 for the third. The track has just been putln the pink of condition under the dir-ection of George McDon- ald, who claims that it is the best in the Province barring Charlottetown. Fleetn. Dillon won the 2.10 pace in straight heats at San Francisco in 2.10'/4, 2.10'/4, 2.11’/,.,Apparently thc mare’s manners' hnve improved con- siderably since last season. The pacer Isaac B. 2.091/4, dropped dead recently at Pottstown, Pa., after working a mile in 2.05. Isaac B. was a member of the McGrath stable and was thought to be real good this season. Jonathan Hawkins, the breeder of Dexter, 2.171/4, and other horses fam- ous fn their day, died at his home in Montclair, N. J., not long ago, at the ripe age of 75 years. In 1863 Dexter showed a mile in 2.311/4, for Hiram Woodruff, which was considered very fast for a green trotter in those days. The following year Dexter trotted a mile to saddle in 2.18%, a new world's record. By doing so he won for his owner the big end of a $10.000 to $2,000 bet. ln 1867 Dexter lowered the world's record to 2.17%.. I-le was sold to Robert Bonner for the then rc- cord price of’ $35,000, and was never raced professionally after that year. The Fredericton Park Association will hang up $2,900 in stakes and purses for the harness racing in con- nection with the exhibition there in September. The early closing stakes are:-- 2.25 trot and pace, $400; 2.30 trot $400; 2.17 trot and pace, $400; three year old trot and pace, $300. The class races are: free for all, $300; 2.30 trot and pace $300; 2.24 trot and pace $300. When the Chestnut marc Loc Blos- som won the third heat of the 2.20 trot at San Francisco in 2.09 1/., she became the third 2.10 trotting perfor- mer of 1915. Sho is credited with a recent trial of 2.06%, and $10,000 was refused for her prior to the opening of the Panama-Pacific Exposition meet- ing where she started three times and was once second, once third and once fifth. Loe Blossom is a chestnut mare nine years old by Lepide 49209 (son of Wilkes Boy 2.24%); dam Lill- llan W., dam of George W. Jack p. 2.11%) by Harry Hontas, 6497; grand- am, Bess by Beaumount, 370. She was bred by Lou Schenk, Phoenix, Arizona. ‘ Spriggan 2.08'/4. winner of the $20,000, 2.10 trot at the Panama Pac- ific meeting, was sold last fail at the McKenzie sale for $700. Mr. McKen- zie had too many horses and decided to let the son of Baron McKinney go and retain San Felipe 2.091/4, for thc big stake. Spriggan won and San Felipe finished outside of the money. Spriggan, it may be added, is five years old and was sired by Baron McKinney 2.10%, (son oi’ McKinney and Etta Baron 2.21%, by Baron Wilkes-2.18); first dam Helen Sim- mons, 2.11, by Simmons 2.28; second dam Lady Helen by Sutton 2.24; third dam Almater 2.29%, by I-lambrlno, 2.21%. CORRECTING AN OLD ERROR The following table has been going the rounds of the exchanges for ovcr a year. lt recently showed up in New Zesland:- Distance from the polo 5 feet 10 feet 15 feet 20 feet 25 feet 30 feet 5,657 This table is supposed to represent how far a horse will travel in two laps his distance from the pole, The compiler of the table evidently forgot that a track is not full length if measured si. the pole. but must he measured three feet from the pole. The figures in the first column of the table should be 8, 13, 23, 28 and 33 ft., respectively.-Chicago Horseman. GOOD SPORT PROMISED..
