The entries up to last evening for the races at the Charlottetown Driving Park on the 14th and 15 instant, were in excess of the entiies of any previous year. The list of hirses entered is not yet available but the classes are tilled as follows:- Seven horses in the three minute class. Nine horses ih the 2.26 class. Sixihorses in the 2.40 class. Nine horses in the 2.50 class. Six horses in the free for all. Nine horses in the 2.30 class. A special attraction in connection with the races will be fiirbished in the form of military exercises on horse back. A detachment of the Royal Canadian Dragoons which is coming to Char- lottetown to conduct a School of Equi- taiion will give by the kind permission of the ofiicer commanding,-on exhi- bition of cavalry sword exercise. wrest- ling on horse back, and the Victoria Cross, on the Driving Park race course on both days of the races. These exer- cises have never before been given on Prince Edward Island and will he one of the most attractive features ever I given in connection with the races qr exhibitions here. The wrestling on horse back is worth far more than the entrance money to see. The men of the Royal Dragoons will be chosen, an equal number Ion each side. Thaobject is for the men on one side to unseat those on the other and the victorious team will then have to wrestle among themselves. The cavalry sword exercise will consist of men on horse back going through the sword exercise. The Victoria Cross exercises consist in a slam battle being fought and men being wounded on the field, when:men on horseback at full gallop pick them up and bear them from the field, across the saddle. _ NEW dress goods opened at PA'roN & Co`s.-d&w . t _ _. i ' 2 illiannisn.
