SSS A Terxmire Warninc.—The editor of the Macon Messenger prints the following terrible warning : Two years ago a man refused to pay an overdue subscription of $3 50 because ‘he had no money,’ as he gaid; and the same day he lost his pocket- book containing $800~-which he never found,—all this for telling « printer a lie. Sure News. — The schooner Soudan, of Antigonish, ssils to-day with « cargo of cattle for St, John’s, Nfld. shipped by Barrett Henderson. The Coban will sail from Montreal on Thuraday, the 25th inst., for Charlottetown and St. John’s, Nfld. The barkentine Erema, Andiew Nielson, master, has sailed for Penarth Roads for orders, with a cargo of oats shipped by the owners, Peake Bros. & Co, ARTILLERYMEN.—The annual report of the Dominion Artillery Association for the year 1892 is to hand. Looking over the prize list we find that the P. E. Island Brigade carried off $100.50 in prizes at the firing competition held in Halifax last fall. Of this amount, $40 out of the $50 offered for officers competition were wou by Lieuts. E Stewart and W. S. Easton, of Georgetown Battery; who won Ist and 2nd prizes respect- ively. Scorr Acr Excrrement.—A Moncton despatch of the 16h says: The Scott Act war is being prosecuted vigorously in West- morland and Albert counties. The latter has always been regarded as one of the most intensely temperate counties in the province and the county councils refused to grant licenses for years before the Scott Act beeame law. Of late, however, liquor hes been sold quite openly and the temperance people have organized to crush out the traffic. A detective has been employed and a number of convictions secured. Now the lawyer employed by che liquor party, Mr. D. Grant, of Moncton, has sworn out « warrant charging George Barnett, a mnaeee justice of the ace, with perjury. e case causes ieaeh dublin.
