A note placed in a bag of Island potatoes shipped to England last winter as a joke had results, which no doubt. far exceeded the wild- est speculations indulged in‘ by the pranksters responsible. The message purported to be from a certain farmer of Burlington, who happens to be happily married and a family man. The dealer who found the note evidently had it published in a London paper, with the result that this man's mail for the past month has been, mostly a continuous flow of letters from ladies, desirous of communicating with a possible fixture husband. The first day, he received fifteen lct- ters and the total now runs into hundreds with enclosed likenesses in many of them. As the gentle- man in question is obviously not interested, there will he many dis- appointed would-be Canadians in England unless some of our bache- lors take over the chore of answer- ing the letters. The note referred to was printed in a recent issue of the Guardian having been clip- ped from a, London paper, and forwarded to Charlottetown. __%___._____ and Mrs. Rema MacDonald all of Winsic-e South and Doris Rayner of Traveller's Rest.
