A record number of at least one hundred junior members are attending all of them have been declared pro- vincial champions in their re- spective projects. Though they will be kept busy in Toronto competing in national judging compeltons to select Dominion champion teams in clothing, food. dairy, beef, swine. poultry. grain and potato pro- jccts-it will not be all work. The group will stay at the Roy- nl York Hotel and and during the week will be honoured for their achievements. They will attend the Royal Winter Fair. partici- pate in conducted educational tours. be entertained at banquets and visit Nizltrarzi Falls. l-Iamhion and the National Capital. Among the new features this year will be a dance to follow the Annual Din- ner and a bus-tour of Toronto af- ter church services on Sunday, with a social gathering in the ev- ening. i Undoubtedly a highlight of the week will be a visit to Govern- ment House. Ottawa. where the Club nzombers will be received by His Excellency the Governor General and Lady Alexander. The trip to the National Club Week is the highest honour in junior club farm work. Since 1931 over one thousand boys and girls have tnkcn part in this annual event, many of whom are them- selves now provldifig leadership in club activities. There has been a record enrolment in club farm work in Canada this year-a total mmihcrship of 49 B54 in 3.740 clubs. The previous high was 47.047 members in 1940 and 45.363 in i948. Ministers NORTH WILTSHIRE MISSION BAND — The North Wiitshire Mis- sion Band under the leadership of Mrs. Kenneth Moclnnis held an in- splring service in the North Wilt- shire United Church. Sunday oven- lng. Nov. 13. June Bowman, presi- dent of the Mission Band. was in charge of the service and. a choir of twenty childrens voices led the singing of appropriate hymns. Scripture readings were given by Beryl Easter and Trevor Campbell. Ewen Campbell and Donnie Parker acted as ushers. Several beautiful selections sung by the “Cornwall Male Trio". under the direction of Mrs. Gordon MacMiilan, were much enjoyed by those present. LING The people of Pleasant Valley and surrounding districts were deeply shocked and saddened when it be- came known on the evening of September 6th, that Hammond Ling had suffered a heart attack and passed away instantily, at the early age of 4&5 years. Hammond was born at Whemtiey River, the eldest son of Mrs. Ling and the late Norman Ling. In 1N1 he married Glen Wlgmofe of Graham's Road and took up farming at Pleasant Valley. He enlisted in the Royal Camd- ian Air Force in 194i and spent five years sewing his country in that branch of the service. Apparently enjoying his usual good health his sudden death came as a profound shock to his family and friends. A young man of many sterling qualities his passing is deeply mourned not only in the home but by all who knew him. 1 Left to cherish the memory . s. kind and loving husband and! father are his sorrowing wife and four children namely. Phyllis, Sum- merside. Joyce. Norman. and an infant daughter Gwcnnyth all at home. Also left to mourn are his mother and the following brothers and sisters. Harry. Walter and ‘Leonard, Wheatley River; Ethel. Mrs. Victnr MucPhail Meadow Bank; Margaret Mrs. Herbert Stevenson New Glasg gow; and Mabel. Mrs. Keir Dugginl Summerside. A twin sister, Mrs. Bernsley Wonnocatt predeceased him sevch years ago and his brother Melvin by less than a year. The funeral which was very largely attended was held frcrn Pleasant Valley United Church on September 8th. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. B. MacPhaii, pastor of the Church assisted by Rev. Howard Christie, Hunter's River; Rev. Don- ald Nicholson. Brookfleld, and Rev. J. M. Murchison, Saint John. N. B. Rev. W. B. MalcPhail officiated | i at the grave.
