ly before Rev. Jas. MacDougall left
for Cambridge, Mass., on a well
earned vacation ilie parishioners of
Augustine Cove. Cape Traverse, and
Searletown .together with several
other kind friends and neighbours
assembled at the manse and brought
_with them an abundant supply of the
many liecessaries of life including
flour. meal, canned goods, pickles, pre-
serves, tea, sugar. etc., etc. The
ladies also provided everything neces-
sary for a grand supper and about
interrupted by interesting conversa-
tion and cdifying speeches. Mrs T. B.
presented Rev. Mr MacDougall with a
package of envelopes, which was found
and encouragement. The whole affair
was a complete surprise to the occu-
pants of the manse, as was also a
donation of a purse of gold from tho
pa_rishioncrs of Summersidc shortly

The present arrangement saves time
and labour, and assists in increasing

SOLDIERS DE`ATH.- The first
pany 105th Battalion occurred last
night when Lance‘Corp. Daillei V.
Gillis succumbiigtb pneumonia in the
Prince County , ospital after an illness
of about ten days. The deceased who
was 29 years ,of age was a son or' Mr.
and Mrs. ,iosegh Gillis, Summerside.
He was a print r b trade having been
employed in the ofdce of the Summer-
side Pioneer and the Moncton Times.
About a year agolie returned to Sum-
merside where he 'opened a job print-
ing business' which he conducted suc-
cessfully untilrecruiting began for the
105th when he sold out his- business
and joined the colours. He was one
of the NJC. O. class in Charlottetown
