Cowperthwaite, and the hymn ‘ Are we yet alive,’ sung. Then Drs. Stewart and Pickard led im prayer. Between sixty and seventy answered to their names when the roll was called. First voting. for President gave Dr. Stewart 7; Rev. S. T. Teed, 8; Rov, D. Chapman, 17 ; and Rey. E. Evans, 29. © Next Mr. Evans was elected. He had 37 and Mr. Chapman 22 votes. The President elect promised to do his best in the chair. Being of true Methodist parentage, he claimed to be a real Metho- di:t preacher. He rejoiced in the docirines and trusted that he would m. Ry vote of Mothedism enjoy all that he preached from the pulpit. The ex-President thanked the brethren fer their forbearance with his many infirmaties during his vear ef oflice; but was most thankful to the great Head of the Church.
