All the local veterinary skill that could be secured failed to save the life of this pro- mising young scion of Nutwood, and on the morning of the 22d he tranquilly breathed his last. sthindieears A Portrait Parstine BY AN IsLAND ARTIST. -In Mr. J. H. Hooper's drug store, the Souris headquarters of THe DatLy EXAMINER, may be seen a very fine portrait painting of Col. Montizambert, of the Citadel, Quebec, The painting is from the brush of Capt. James Brenan, Souris Artillery Company. The re- semblance to the original is most striking and life-like. This is not the first time we have had occasion to notice Capt. Brenan’s produc- tions as a portrait painter. They show that he possesses talents of a high order for that class of painting; and there is no doubt if he could devote himself entirely to the cultiva- tion of the fine arts, he would soon class among the foremost painters of the Dominion. = © mene KeLtorous Servic &s.— Bishop Courtney wil be Ceiebrant and will preach at St. Peter's tomorrow forenoon, and he will preach at St. Paul's in the evening.
