He sueceeded thus in gaining his criminal ends by the Armenians of several] villages, comprising fuur districts. Now these insurgents, under the com-nand latter part of July last their respective vil- lazea, and after having placed in inicee= sible spots their wives, children and be other Armenian insurgents they came from the village of Moush, and when the gether, numbering more than 3,000, at a p'ace called Endenk-Ghad. Six hundred of them decided tocampon Moush. They began by attacking the tribe of Del kan on the Mount cf Courtink, in the south of Moush, killed a few of them and robbed them of their belongings. All Mussulmen that fell into their hands were insulted in their religien and murdered in a horrible fashion. The regular troops of the neighborhooi of Moush were also attacked by the insur gents, who, however, did not dare to attack Moush itself, owing to the strong i litary forces of the town. These rebels, togethe r with those assembled at Endonk-Bugh, or- most el ferociously the tribes close at hand, committing horrible crimes ant depreda- tions, “nmer Agahs, and assan!ted and murder- ed Mussulmen women of three or — also tortured many Musseulmen, forcing them to kiss che croas, putting their eyes vut, Cutting their ears and submitting them to the most borrible indignities. The same rebels, at the beginning of August last, at- tacked the tribes of Favinar, of Bekir, and of Badikan, committing crimes similar to the above. The insurgents of the village of En- ligheunnk and Yermouch, situated in the canton of Djenan (district of Nalb) attacked in their turn the Kurds, and also the vil- lages of Kaisser and of Tchantchat. To- wards the end of August last the Armen ilans were attacking the Kurds in +he neighborhood of Moush, including Guilli- Gauzat. In relation to the agitators of Ta’ouni, numbering more than 3,000, af afier having brought consternation and death among Mussnlmen and Christians alike, they refused to surrender, and continued their criminal pro ceeding?. The regular troops were sent to the spot te put down their rebel lion. The chief Hampartzaum fled to a high monntain with all of hie associates in crime. He was captured alive, not, how- ever, wich his killing two soldiers and wounding six. By the end of August last al] insurgent bands were dispersed. Women, children and invalids were treated with due consideration, and ac- cording to the diccates of Islamism ani humanity. The insurgents who fell were those who refused to surrender and pre ferred to fight the lawful anthorities of the country. The insurgents who were captured will be punished according io the laws.” _ oO 3-8 oe CHURCH SERVICES. St. Dunstan's Cathedral—First Mass at 7.30 a.m. Chiklren’s Mass at 3.30 a. m.
