The weather was perfect and the track was in wonderful con- dition, probably being the fastest- oval on the Island yesterday. Both times the track record was equal- led it was Peter Reaper who did the trick, Col. McKinuons smooth pacer stepping the first two heats in 2.11 flat. The final heat of ‘the Volo. In winning the 2.21 event in straight heats. Josie the Great with Johnny Conroy up. equalL-d her mark of 2.13‘; in the first heat: and then went on to lower her mark 1-4 second in each of the next two to take a new one of 2.12%’. Millie Kalmuck, owned and driv- en by Willard Keily, took the slow class in straight heats and in do- ing so showed that she is a real trotter of which much is expected before the season is over. 2.17 TR/UI‘ AND PACEI-This class brought five starters to the wire and they got away on the first score with Miss Mc'I‘yre at the pole. The Middleton owned trotter held her lead for the first half but lost it then to McElwyn the Great. At the three quarter pole MticKinnoii took Peter Reap- er out and outbrushed the field to the wire for his first heat in 2.11 with Hanover Courier second and Trixie V010 third. In the second heat Peter Reaper led the whole mile and Hanover Courier made a fine drive in the last quarter to place second. This horse does not go away as fast es the rest but in both heats he show- ed wonderful brush in the last quarter. The third heat looked asthough it would be a repetition oi the second but ‘Trixie Voio pulled n. surprise by beating Peter Reaper down the stretch to win B. lovely heat in 2.1111. 2.21 TRDT AND PACE-This class had four starters with Bebe McElwyn at the pole. They got away aftera couple of scores. Jos- ie the Great took the lead on the first turn and was never headed from then on in any of the three heats. She paced the second half of her second mile in 1.04‘. and in the last heat when she took her new mark did the same half in only a second more. Bud Cope was also ‘a good horse. showing good brush even though it was not quite enough to get to the Amherst mare. Soviet was an im- proved horse over Summcrside but made several breaks. 2.27 ‘PROT AND PACE: - ‘The slow class drew nine starters to the wire who got away on the fifth score with Donna Watson at the pole. Kelly with Millie Kai- muck was content with second po- sition untii about half way up the back stretch in the second hulf when he began a. drive which eas- ily carried her to the front com- ing into the stretch and she was not pushed to the wire. Starreit Voio was a good second with Daisy Peters third, Donna. Watson tak- ing fourth. Alestre. and Daisy Peters showed a lot of speed in this heat as they lost considerable with bad acting going away. Millie Kalmuck was never head- ed in the second heat and the race was really for second place with Alestra. Daisy Peters and Domin- ion Belle being the main con- tenders. Alestrs seemed to have it coming into the stretch but. made a break some fifty yards from the wire and although fin- ishing third behind Daisy Peters. was set back one position for the break. In the third heat Dominion Belle and Daisy Peters were in a criickup on the second turn of the second half Just when it se med Industrial League Meeting Tonight The postponed meeting of the Industrial League will be held this evening at Dr. F. Baseball has been on the wane in Charlottetown hr the past several years and the officials of the Industrial league have been carrying on gamely in the face of all odds, with very little support from the players.
