This is the second game between these two teams, each resulting in a draw, the first one being 1-l a fcw weeks ago. With a lovely sheet of ice, the first _ period opened up strong with each team working hard to get the lead. About half way through, Lawlor broke- through the Imperials defence to plant the rubber behind Mabey for the first and only goal in the first period-Vics, 1; Imperials 0. The scconciperiod was about five minutes old, when McFarlane put the Vics into a two-goal lead. About three minutes later Montague got their first goal in a mix-up. Just llvc minutes before the bell, Lawlor got the third goal for the Vics. The Vics could not hold the lmperials at that score, and before they knew it, the Montague boys had scored before the bell soundcci-Vics, 3; Imperlals lo ln the third period Montague cven- ed the count. The Vics used all they 121d to Jump into the lead. Lawlor lilli Stevenson laloyed great combin- ation to the mouth of the Imperluls goal, McFarlane picked up the loose puck and shot it past Mabey for the Vics filial goal. Just before the bcll, lviontague ugaln evened the score in a. mix-up in front of the Vics net. No overtime was played. This is the first time this winter that Montague has been tied in their rink. STANLEY ICE RACING Wednesday's racing was short and snappy. On account of the morning being blustery and disagreeable thcre was nothing done towards pre- paring the course until after 12.30 0'- clock; ‘~ Mr. Ivan Brown, the Secre- tary of the Kcnsington Club, tele- phoned to D. J. McLeod that there was a bunch of their sports coming down and would like to have a race. At once Mr. McLeod notified a few " of the live-wires and in a very short time the course ._was again scraped, but owing to the fall of snow on Tuesday night before the frost set in, left the 'ice rather soft for extra good work, but notwithstanding all difficulties, they pulled off two classes with results as follows. The 2.50 class was made up of Miss Kentucky and Miss Claudea, the int- ter winning out with ease. Her driver, J. W. McKay, has every right to be well satisfied with her perform- nncc in the last two days racing and it looks as though she is going to strike hcr 102B stride before long. Miss Kentucky went away from the wire very fast for the first few chains but the soft surface got the better of her good nature and from then on rhc wouldrrt settle down to her driver's satisfaction He thinks a good long drive as far as the Gulf of St. Lawrence will do her a world of good before Saturday's race. The free-for-all class was let away with two entries, namely, Byng Girl and Grand Review, the former winn- ing the best in three by two slight mistakes on the paruof her oppon- ent. Byng Girl is every word of a handsome chestnut mare and n real ice-pacer. A oolumn of credit is due her owner for her form and fit. We are all looking forward to Saturday afternoon. Grand Review went away rather bad at the start of each heat, instantly closing the gapnnd making n neck yoke race to the quarter pole, hc being a heavy horse, required solid footing to carry him through as n general rulc. A-little trimming will make o good man step in again and we trust it will work the same on l good horse when the gong sounds at sharp 1.30 on Saturday, March 1st. A full card is expected in all three classes for Saturday. The 8-minute class will require a very wide oourso to accommodate Colorado Boy. Coot- ta, Ethel Todd, Witty 0.,‘ Queen, Lindy, some: Guy, Cavendish Girl, Bernita and several others. The summary is as iollows:- " 2M Clus Miss Claudia (C. McEwcn) .. i_ 1 l Miss Kentucky (B.
