All who have the opportunity should avail themselves of this chance to take in the interesting regatta and tournament at Pictou.? _ ~S---— Drowned tn a Reservorn.—The 14-year old son of the late Dr. Steeves, of Moncton, was drowned in the cotton factory reservoir at that place shortly before dusk on Thars- day —— it appears that Steeves and another lad named Porteous were paddling about in the water on a piece of timber, and the former fell off where the water was beyond his depth. Steeves came up three times, but the boy did not give the alarm until too late. Just before going down the last time young Steeves cried out, ‘good bye” to his com- panion. The Lord Mayor, at a conference with the directors of the dock companies to-day, gave assurance that the men are now ready to resume work on Monday. Gresswein was 60 years old. A Disastrous Collision. ee Orrawa, Sept. 13. The str. Rothesay, loaded with exour- sionists, collided with a tug boat on the St. Lawrence near Prescott last night. The tug boat was sunk and three men drowned. The Rothesay was run aground and all her passengers safely landed. They were Acquitted. Orrawa, Sept 13. Andrews Hendricks, May Hendricks and Mrs. Cooper, who were put on trial here today for the murder of a woman named Kelly, last winter, were acquitted, the Judge declining to allow the case to go to the jury. ee The Bangors Shut Ont.
