President's Address "The year 1942 has been one o! the most encouraxinfl Year; that we have experienced for some time, stated President Hamilton in submitting his annual report. “While we have met a great many gains, however, we have sustained some very serious losses. The passing oi at least two 01' our outstanding men and farmers has been a seri- ous blow, particularly to the sheep ln-Hlslfy. in which these men were great pillars 0t strength. I refer to the death oi’ Mr. George Boswell oi’ Frenchiort and Mr. W. H. Mac- Gregor oi Central Int 16, Mr. Boswell was one of the best known exhibitors oi pure bred sheep in Eastern Canada and has made a contribution to the sheep industry within and without this Province that cannot be iuly estimated. Mr. W. H. MacGregor was another man, who while not an exhibitor oi note, was nevertheless an im- portant iigure in the industry, and particularly in the marketing oi wool, having represented this prov- ince on the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers Board ior a number, oi years. The work which they have done will be more iully sp- preciated as time goes on. "On the credit side, however, there has bun a great advantage. During the year the Canadian Wool Board was organized, taking over the handling oi wool across Canada under definite regulation. his wool was marketed through Wool ior the Canadian Cooperative Growers and handled locally this organization through Prince Edward Breeders’ Association. A largely Jncreased volilne was taken care oi’, and 1’ think to the satisfaction oi all concerned. "There has been a development, too, in a very important depart- ment, that o1 parasite treatment, and the Department oi Agriculture reducing l is to be commended on there has been an extension ili the sheep industry. Our representations in iavor cl the grading o1 lambs on the rail has also received some support, although there has not been tlie general response to this policy that we would anticipate. Further consideration d support should be given to s mattel during the next you. The die- tribution oi the good ram; ha‘ also been extended and the supply was scarcely adequate w meet the de- mand. There is an indication that we need more iirstncllsl breeders oi registered sheep in order to 1:60P our basic supply o! good breeding During the year I have had the honour to succeed Mr. W. H.
