S., was laid on Wednesday by Mrs. John Byers, wife of Dr. Byers, in the presence of a large gathering. The hospital will cost about $7000 when finished. Dears or AN Istanpex.—Through a letter received by Jaraes R Davison, Esq , of this city, from his son Charles, who is now in Michigan, we hear with regret that Mr. Jabez jarnard, a former resident of Charlottetown, died at Grand Rapids on Monday last. The deceased was weil advanced in years. He was a brother of Mrs. Joha Whear, of Chare lottetown, and uncle of Captain W. H. Barn- ard, of Summerside Came Briguton.—The military in camp paraded to the First Methodist Church and St. Duostan’s Cathedral yesterday forenoon. Lieutenant-Colonel Irving, commandant of the camp, wasin charge of the contingent present at the Methodist Church. The two military bands were in attendance. Rev. Dr. Carman preached on the occasion. The con- tingent attending St. Dunstan's Cathedral was under the command of Captain Brenan, of the Souris Artillery. Rev J. P McGrath preached the sermon of the day.
