Ciry Scnoot Boarp.—A special meeting of the City School Board was held last evening, at which the estimates for the current vear were submitted. The princi- pal items were discussed at some length, aod they will be finally adopted a: the next meeting of the Board to be held on the first Monday in February. The Board decided to pay the teachers two-thirds of the amount of the supplement withheld by tne Provincial Government. This means that the Board will have to pay about $500 more this year than last. Po.ice Court.—There were seventeen cases disposed of at the pclice court dur- ing the month of January. There were 4 convictions for drunkenness, 3 for violat- ing the Liquor Regulation Act, 2 for refue- ing te assist the police in the discharge of their duty, 3 for assault and 1 each for vagrancy, larceny and nuisance. One drunk was dismissed, also one summons charging a breach of the Liquor Regula- tion Act.
