Axotuer Exrvepitioy.—An_ expedition which promises to be interesting is being planned by some young men in North Sydney. A smal! vessel is to be chartered and with a party of twelve leave for Hud- son Bay on a prospecting trip in the spring. With $700 they think they will be able to secure the necessary outfit, which means a little over $20 apiece. None but stalwart and energetic vouths will be taken, and they think with a little hardship they will be able to discover a K!ondike at Labrador and Hudeou Bay. LAILWAY Appointments. — It is announced from Mozrcion tnat Mr. B. H. Schaeffer has been appointed district freight agert of theI. U. K., bie district covering the division east of Moncton, and including the Prince Edward Island Railway. The Times says that the appointment may involve the removal to Moncton ofoue or two people connected with the freight department of the Island railway. Mr. “chaeffer’s many friends in Charlottetown will congratulate bim upon the appointment. A Trve Story.—A_ correspondent of ** Our Damb Animals” writes, concerning a favorite horse: “ One day when we had been out riding my father was unbarness- ing her in the barn, and she wanted some water to drink,so she went to tne pail, but found itempty. She looked around to see if my father wou'd fill the pail, but he stood still to see what she would do. After waiting awhile, and looking around once or twice, she took hold of the fancet with her teeth and turned on the water and filled the pail and drank all she wanted. A. O. Judgment for plaintiff. Rattenbury for plaintitl; Whear for de- fendant. McIntosh vs. Currie——Trespass and trover for wrongful taking of hay and grain of plaintiff. This was a cross action brought against the defendant as an offset to the above case. Ube defendant had directed the sheri= to seize certain hay and wheat ss the property of a nephew of was Souris for three davs last Reddin presi ling, plaintiff againet whom he had a judgment. This had = been dove avd the defendant bed = finaliy —_ after the sherift’s sale acquired the bay and wheat. The plaintift claimed that the hay and wheat were his property, sud had been wrongfully seized. Judgment was reserved with proviso thatthe jadgment in above case of Currie vs. Mclotosh would not be final until judgment was given in this case, Whear for plaintiff; Rattenbury for defendant. Rose A Simpson va. Daniel F. Macdonald.—Tresnass $150.00. This was an action against the sheriff, for wrongful seizure of the plaintiff's goods, namely a horse and 250 stooks of oats. The horse had beeu returned after the sherifl’s sale by the purchaser but the oats had been retained. This case was adjourned to the March term on the application of the defendant’s council. Arthur Mellish for plaintiff; Usthiesunfordefendant Gallant vs. Mellett—Action for damages $75.00. The evidence gven tha far is ehortly as follows: The plaintiff etates that at the end of October the defendant came to his house, a log cabin in aclearing im New Acadia, and while he was away tock away his cooking stove, that he bad po other stove in the house, and his wife being withina few days of confinement was made ii! by the cold and action of the plaintifi,and that his child also took cold and he had to secure medical attendance. The cefendant, while admitting the taking, claimed to be justified in as much as he held a iien note for seven doliars thas was three weeks, overdue, On the appli- cation of the counsel’ for the defendant this case wasalso adjourned ti!!
