After first provid- ing a simple means for original rlassification at the outset of 1955 season the Board then approved other modifications resulting from the suggestions of race secretaries and from research done since the December meeting. No changes were made in the money class table or the classification rules in use at the fairs. The principal changes in the new rules are fl) a single table was put in use with DOWN THE ,- the tracks speed ratings compiled by the U.S.'l'.A. to be applied to this table. I2) A national normal "par" of 2.06 was adopted as a starting point in applying the time classification table. The trotting table was adjusted to be slower than the pacing table by 1.1':i'i sec- onds in line with research to de- termine average difference In speed of the two galts.
