Some arms may pos sibly te turned ia voluntarily. sn culls The Uitlanders’ Petition. -SOHANNESBURG, May 28.—The British reply to the recent petition of the Uit-~ landers praying for the redress of their grievances is to the effect that the petition is receiving eerious consideration: While the government is unable at the present stage lO express an Opinion on the points raised, it declares its general sympathy for memorialisis, and says it earnestly desires a speedy and substantial change in their position. It expects that the questions at issue will be conciliatorily discussed by Presideat Krager and Sir Alfred Milner, the Governur cf Cape Colony and British High Commissioner in South Africa, at their coming meeting at Bloemfontein.
