The affair was under the auspices of the Upper South Vfest Lot l6 Institute. Mr. T. M. Linkletter, M.L.A., very capably presided and after the customary remarks introduced the speaker of the evening, Mr. A. E. MacLean, MP. In his remarks Mr. MacLean paid a; touching tribute to Canad- ians who fought and died over- seas, speaking in special terms of endearment oi the two young men from Int 16 who had paid the supreme sacrifice. We, as Canadians, are very for- tunate to be living in this land of freedom from strife and worry. and all should render thanks to God that we are Canadians. In his closing remarks Mr. MacLean said he for one, was proud to be a Canadian. Mr. Edward Lockhart of St. El- eanors gave a very pleasing solo, “Just Beiore the Battle, Mother," and in response to an encore sang "On the Old Camp Ground." Mr. Lockhart is a singer of rare ability and his songs added very mater- ially to the evening's enjoyment. Mrs. Lockhart presided at the or- gan. A pretty song “Red. White. and Blue" was. sung very charmingly by three little girls. A reading, “Remembrance Day" by Mrs. Beecher Ford, was well applauded. Mr. Howard Fraser. well known entertainer, gave sev- eral vocal selections. Worthy of special mention was his pleasing rendition of “Missing From The Ranks". His numbers also received well merited applause. “In Flan- ders Fields," a. recitation by Miss Ilelen Campbell was well received. Instrumental, music by Sidney Ba- gole was another pleasing item on the program. Mrs. Beecher Ford recited “The Man Behind the Plough." Last but not least on the program was a. dialogue entitled "Company for Dinner". It was very well represented, the charac- ters taking their parts very cred- itably. » The National Anthem brought the program to a close. An auction oi pies then took place, Mr. Linkletter very kindly playing the part of auctioneer. and a. tidy sum was realized. The ladies then served tea.
