These various amounts were approved of by the Presby- tery. Mr. Webster recommended (l) that in accordance with his letter recently sent out to all of the con- gregations, that these allocations for the incoming year be present- ed to the various congregations at once. And (2) further that the minis- ter of each congregation present the claims of the budget to his own people unless he should think 1t wise to exchange with a neigh- boring minister for this particular purpose.. The report was adopted and Mr. Webster thanked for the splendid work done by him. Rev. Alex. R. Gibson the conve- ner of the Prcsbyteryh committee on Sunday Schools and Young Peoples Societies presented the re- port. of the Sunday Schools and Young Peoples Societies. As quite a number of the Sunday Schools and Young Peoples Societies had not as yet sent In their Individual reports, his report for the whole Presbytery must of necessity be qulte Incomplete. During the your most of the Sunday Schools have done good work. The number uf awards sent out during the your was 84. Mr. Gibson stressed the intpartaxtcc of both the, (ll-cradle r011 depart- ment and the (Zt-Homc study department. If the teachers in the Sunday School can only secure the interest of the parents through the use of the cradle roll, they can generally hold this interest for all time. 1 One of the great uccds of the age is the study of the Bible In the homes. If the teachers ap- pointed to look after this depart- ment are In rnrtmwt. a great deal of good can be accomplished through the study of the Bible In the homes of our pcoplc. In View c: the fact that the Home Mission committee 1s planning on doing some re-grcuping in the near tu- ture it was agreed to let this re- ,quest remain on the table until lthe regular meeting of this Pres- bytery tn May. In the meantime the people of Clyde River can rest assured that the Presbytery will do everything possible for their best Interests. The question of the need of the dfiebeniag of the spiritual lives of our ‘ministers and of our people throughout all of our congregations twas discussed at some length. It; lwas felt by all that our people imust be brought to think about something else than money and {the material needs of the church. When the spiritual lives of the people 1n our churches have been qulckened, s11 of the money re- _qulred for the carrying on of the ‘Master's work will come flowing in to our treasurics. It was moved by Rev. J. Keir Fraser, D. D., and seconded by Rev. Alex. R. Gibson that a committee be appointed to arrange for a rc- trcat for our minister some time during the coming summer. The committee appointed was as follows: Rev. R. Moorchcad Icgate, Rev. G. Carlyle, Webster and Rev. Alex. R. Gibson. The report of the budget com- mittee was given by the convcncr of sub-committee, Rev. G. Carlyle Webster. Notwithstanding the se- vere tests through which our peo- ple are passing In those day's, the report. was most encouraging. In addition to what cur congregations Iiave given to the regular budget. many of them have responded nobly In contributing to the One Step Forward campaign fund. McMillan, Zion Church, Charlotte- town and Angus McLean, Wood Islands, and the alternates were Robert Home, Alberton, and A. E. Morrison, St. James church, Char- lottetown. The applications for the several Augmentation grants for the con- grcgatlons needing such grants were approved of by Presbytery. The applications will be sent. on to Toronto where they will be dealt with by the General Board of Missions which meets there March 15-22. The statistical and financial re- port was presented by the clerk, the convcner of the committee on statistics. As some of the Individ- ual reports had not been sent. 1n by a number of the congregations, the report for the whole Presby- tery cannot now be given in full. Duringwthe psSt year the ac- ccssions to the membership in a. number of our congregations are greater than In 1930, while In oth- crshgain they are less. Some of our Sunday Schools report gains but some few again have 10st In numbers. In their contributions to the different departments of the churclrs work. some of the con- gregations have given more liber- ally than in 1930 but others again have not done so wcil. In the face a: the depression the most of the congregations have made quite a good financial showing. Rcv. R. Hensley Stavert, conve- ncr of the committee appointed by Presbytery to deal with the mat- tcr of securing a site for a sum- mcrschooi, reported that. as yet no definite action had been taken regarding the purchasing cf a sitc. It was reported to the Presby- tcry meeting on Wednesday that Rev. Donald McLean, retired Pres- byterian minister, Charlottetown. had been quite seriously 111 for several wccks. The clerk was asked by Presby- tery to forward a letter to Mr. McLean, Informing him of the ac- ltfon of Presbytery and conveying to him the sympathy of the mem- hers. The Communion Servcc held 1i St. James Church on Tuesday evenng for the ' members cf the Presbytery and a number of their Immediate friends was a very helpful arid inspiring service. The devotional part ofthe ser- vice was conducted by Rev. R. Moorehead Iegate, minister of St. James Church; the address was given by Rev. J. Keir Fraser, D. D., and the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was dispensed by Rev. Fred Williamson, moderator of Presbytery, assisted by four El- ders from St. James Church, namely, Dr. G. F. Dewar, D. A. McKtnnon, W. A. Stewart and A. W. Hyndman and two Elders from Zion Church, namely: Wm. Mc- Millan and F. A. Match. The thanks of the Presbytery was extended to all who had taken part in making the service such a source of Inspiration and‘ comfort. .'I'he Presbytery has requested Rev. Dr. Fraser to have his ad- dress published in the daily press that the public may have the pri- vilege of reading it. A hearty vote of thanks was ex- tended by all who attended ths meetings of the Presbytery, to ths congregations of Zion and St. James for the royal way in which they entertained them. not only In their homes and also by serving meals at the churches. This experiment of spreading the work of the regular quarterly session out over a two-day period has proved to be quite a success In taking away the rush to get through the work In order to catch the trains 0n the afternoon of the one day periods. thus it Is felt by many that henceforth all of the quarterly meetings should be can-fed on In this way. The Presbytery then adjourned to meet at the csII of the modera- tor and clerk, of which public 1n- timatlcn was given and the meat- ing was closed with the benediction by the moderator Rev. Fred Wil- liamson. A .'
