Tun GUARDIAN welcomes reliable corre- spondence, and will in all cases hold the names of the writers of such in con lidencc, bit those who furnish unteliablcand even misleading news to this paper need not expect to escape exposure. A on>:'rLrMaN living in Charlottetown sends 'Inu GUARDIAN the following hoping that parents will impiiss upon their children the importance of the suggestions contained in the extract: Infection in school pencils is 9. subject that is receiving considerable attention in England we are informed. The medical inspectors ofthe Board of Schools have issued aprotest against the custom of; the indiscriminate use of pencils by child- ren. Nearly everyone is apt io put a pencil in the mouth before using it, and numerous cases of skin and mouth dis- eases led to t-he conclusion that this habit- is at the root of the trouble, the child often getting a pencil that has been in some o her child`s mouth. Infection of all kinds can be carried in this manner, and each child should have a pencil of its own, if it has to be tied about the child's neck with a string before it leaves for school. One’s observation of children has led one to the conclusion that they cannot be taught too young not to touch anything that has been in an other child’s mouth, much less to put it in their own. The habit of exchanging or borrowing gum is one as common as it is horrible and dis- custing, and the biting and eating of apples that pass from one mouth to the other is another shocking habit that should be checked. Then there is t-he ice cream vend Jr, which is always surrounded by little boys, all licking a questionable mixture of little round tins that have been in a hundred mouths, and simply dipped in the dish of foul water the venor carries round with him. Children should be warned against all these odious practices. Unfortunately so many mothers are ignorant of these things and their consequences, or they are careless, ‘or owing to ignorance or carelessness see no harm in them. l THEREISNO HEADACHE :harem , not be tu .d by Bowma.n’s Headache ` Powders, whether caused by Feverishness Biliousness, or Ccl-‘ls Bowman's are al- , ways reliable and act promptly, 10 cents nd 25 cents. at a‘l reliable dealers- BRUARY _ ° rw " so ri _ I ¢» 1 1* _'gig' _ , ’-§‘/,ll ¢f . ‘__ WE DNES DAY Bee Hive Daily Bulletm and Old Probabilities Weather Forecast. A GOOD DEAL OFNONSENSE About “Blood Purifiers" and “Tonic= .” Every drop of blood, every bone. nervc and tissue in the body can be renewed in but one way, and that is, from whole- some food properly digested. There is no other way and the idea that a medicine in itself can purify the blood or supply new tissues and strong nerves is rediculous and on a par with the fol-de-rol that dyspepsia or indigestion is a germ disease or that other fallacy, that a weak stomach which refuses to digest food can be made to do` so, by irritating and inilamingz the bowels by pillsand cathartics, StuarL’s Dyspepsia _ Tablets cure indigesiion, sour stomach, gas and bloating after meals, because they furnish the digestive principles which weak stomachs lack, and unless the delic- iency of pepsin and diastase is supplied it is useless toattempt to cure stomach trou- ble hy the use of “tonics” pills and cath ar tics which have absolutely no fdiizestive- power, and their only effect is to give a temporary stimulation. One grain of the active principle in Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets will digest 3C 33 grains of meat, eggs and similar foods and experiments have shown that they wi1ldo'this in a. glass bottle at proper temperature, but of course are much more effective in thc stomach. - There is probably no remedy so univer- sally used as Stua!t’s Tablets because it is not only the sick and ailing, but well people who use them at every meal to in- sure perfect digestion ani assimilation of the food. People who erj oy fair health take `Stuart’s Tablets as regularly as they take their meals, because they want to keep well, prevention is always better than cure and Stuart`s Dyspepsia Tablets do both; they prevent indigestion and they remove it where it exists. The regular use of one or two of them after meals will demonstrate their merit and efficiency better than any other argumcnt. _____¢_...._ TAKES IT MUCH TO HEART.
