UPEI THEATRE ROOM (basement of Main) For further information: Mike Read (566-0634) Thanks to the curiosity of someone on campus, we re- ceived a taste of days gone by at CIMN. The author of this letter in question (A Resident Student) is hopefully not a reflection of the residents of today. We at CIMN take great pride.in our work. If you are listening sometimes and hear the dreaded sound of nothing at all (dead air), please re- member that the first few weeks of broadcast at CIMN entail the training of new re- cruits. They are just beginning to work out the few minor . Floy Joy . Dr. and » Luba... problems and phobias they had during the sometimes nightmarish ‘‘First Show’’. I guess what I’m trying to say is that we are here for you. We are students playing music for students. If anyone has any grievances, please let us know. If you are pleased with our performance, tell us. WE LOVE THE FLATTERY. Thank You, Doris Murphy Station Manager, CIMN P.S. I can guarantee that ‘‘the same damn tape”’ is not being played. This week, I want to focus in on our next per- formers on campus, as well as some Maritime happenings you should be aware of. On Thursday, October 2nd, UPEI Student Union wel- comes ‘‘The Web’? back for another incredible — Main Event. ‘‘The Web’’ has per- formed here for the last two years to sold out and enthu- siastic crowds. Anyone who has seen them will tell you that this is not a band to miss. Their growing popularity has made them one of the hottest attractions on the University curcuit this year. Long overdue for recording, this summer the band took a break from their hectic touring schedule to do some serious writing and rehearsing for their first E.P. You should be able to give it a listen a little later on this fall. Knowing “The Web’? it will be specta- cular and should put them well on the way to national recog- nition. “The Web’? is fronted by he two gorgeous and multi- talented ladies, Holly Davidson and Kris Abbott. The inter- action of play and good feel- ings between these two ladies is unique and contagious. Their main man, John Radul presides on keyboards, leads the band and represents this group’s instrumental distinc- tion and musical sophistica- tion. Their repetoire includes cover material of ‘‘Simple Minds”, “Mr. Mister’’, “Tears for Fears’’, and ‘‘The Smiths’’ to name a few. It’s a night you won’t want to miss. So be there Thursday, October 2nd. Tickets go on sale at the Stu- dent Union Office (at the Barn) on Friday, September 26th. Also on October 2nd, Yuk Yuks Comedy Cabaret holds its Grand Opening in Halifax. The guest list for the evening includes VIP’s from the Uni- versity and Club circuits in the Maritimes, as well as Who’s Who in the music scene. I will be there to catch “Mark Brislin $ co as a or ee a ef @ 0 and Larry Horowitz’’ in the act and to check out some comic relief for later this year. It should be an_ incredible evening. A better late than never STANDING OVATION for Charley Hennison and the Prince Edward CP Convention Centre. On Thursday, Sept. 18th they put on an incredible fundraiser for Rick Hansen and his ‘‘Man in Motion Tour” for spinal cord research. Over 700 people were entertained by the fabulous ‘Screaming Trees” and all proceeds went to Rick Hansen. Even the staff working for the evening do- nated their wages to the cause. Charley Hennison deserves special congratulations for organizing the whole event and raising much needed money for such a worthy cause. Well, that’s about it for this week. Next week tune in for the goods on ‘‘Mike Woods’’ who will be performing in the Panther Lounge, Thursday, October 16th and what’s up for Fall Fest (Oct. 27-Nov. 1). Catch you on the flipside! 19.
