Sir,—Is the following anything like cor. rect? Ifnot perhaps the Patriot will give me some light. Sir Louis H. Davies’ advices last Sat- urday were that “the Strait was filled with iee from fourto ten feet thick.” How much of it had disappeared yesterday. In March there ie from four to ten feet of ice in the Straite. Io January and the early part of February there is not more than four to ten inches. In Mareh the Stanley comer into Charlottetown, In January and February the Stanley lies at the wharf at Georgettown. Charlottetown merchacts pay freight to and from George- town, Passengers pay fare: to and from Georgetown, and pay for berths and meals in the Minto. The Government coins money. Don’t the people lose it ? If there is from four to ten feet of ice in the Straits in March, and if there was never more than one or two feet iv Jan- uary and February, could not the Stanley have come to Charlottetown nearly every day this season? If the Minto can go from Georgetown to Pictou in almost half the time thet the Stanley can make the passage under the same conditione, could pot the Minto have made return trips to Charlottetown almost every day this winter? Last year the Princess Lroke the ice for the Stavley. This year the Stanley breaks the ice for the Minto. The Stanley is certainly a better ice boat than the Princess. The Minto certainly ought to be a better boat than the Stanley, Doesn’t it look as though there was some- thing wrong with the managemeni? Yours, © CHOOLB »Y. 1900. << + Gee ALMOST A MIRADLE. Mrs. Barnes givesao accountof her ease for publication: ‘I have coseulted a doctor,” sbe writes, “who gave me medi- cine that seemed to make me worse at times. I was told of Dodd’s Kidney Pills, and 1 got one box. I have used part of the box and am completely cured, and strange to say both my hearing and eyesight are vow uvaffected.” — ee An Interesting Case, Mr. W.G. Phyall, pronrietor Bodega, Hotel, 36 Wellington street East, Toronto, says:— “While living in ChicagolI wasina terrible state with itching and bleeding piles, I tried several o¢ the best physicians and was burnt and torturedin various ways by their treate menttc 0) avail, besides spending a mint of money *c no purpose. Since coming to Toronto I learned of Dr. Chase’s Ointment, I used but one box and have not been troubled with piles in any shape or form since,” —_————__ ++ eo -———_—-——-* Every man knows better than to go up againstanother man’s game, yet they all do it.
