Alu- week included the day the stock market had been awaiting for a long time - the day President Eisenhower reaffirmed his inten- tion to run again. Wall Street had been speculat- ing on this matter since June I. the day Eisenhower was stricken with an intestinal ailment. Last Tuesday the uncertaonty regard- ing Eisenhower was suddenly removed. Anything might have happened -a jubilant advance. or I sharp nelloff because the affirmative decision had been anticipated for so long. The interesting thing about Tuesday was that for nearly two hours nothing hap- pened. Then sieels and other in- moderate advance. This was in sharp contrast to the events of June I when the news of Eisenhower's illness sent the market down for its steepest drop since October In the heaviest nelloff of the year. The fact that no large-scale profit-taking occurred after the Tuesday announceme convinced traders that people with big prof.
