Shook Hands With a Waiter Think- ing He Was Ambassador Choate. Lonpon, July, 20.~ Society here is laughing at the strange mistaxe made by the Prince of Wales the other day. He chatted for several minutes with a waiter at the Marlborough Club,mistaking him for Joseph Choate, American Ambassador to the Court of St. James. The waiter, who does not look like Mr. Choate, nad just deposited a veal and ham pie on a sideboard and was moving toward the door when he was met by His Royal Highness. The Prince ceized the waiter’s hand and wrung itwarmly. “How do you do?” he said; ‘I am glad to see you.” “Pleased to see Your Royal *Ighness,” the waiter stammered. Then the two con- versed a while.
