How te be Strong. Never let the bowels be eitherconfined or unduly acted upon Itmay appear singular that Holloway’s Pills should be recommended for a run upon the bowels, many persons supposing that they would in- crease relaxation. ‘This is a great mistake however, for these Pills will immediately correct the liver, and stop every kind of bowe: In warm climates thousands of lives have been saved which in all cases gives tone ana vigor to the whole organic system, however deranged —health and strength following as a matter of course The appetite too is wonderfully wcreased by the use of these Pils, combined with the use of solid in preference to fluid diet. Animal food is better than broths and stews. By removing acrid, fermented, or other impure humours from the liver, stomach or blood the cause of wysentery, ditrrha@a, aud other bowel complaints is expelled. ‘I'he result is, that the disturbance lr arrested, and the action of the bowels becomes re ular Nothing will stop the relaxation of the bowels so quickly as this fine correct ing medicine. complaint. by the use of this medicine, Disorders of Kidneys. April 3, 1860. r - THE GREAT CURE ALL! KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE WORLD Bad Legs, Bad Breasts, Sores and Ulcers- All description of Sores are remedinble by the proper and diligent use of this inestimable preparati.n. To attempt to cure bad legs by plastering the edges of the wound together is @ folly; for should the skin unite, a boggy diseased condition remains underneath to break out with tenfold fury in » few days. The only rational! and successful treat ment, as indicated by nature, is to reduce the inflammation in and about the wound, and to soothe the neighbouring parts by rubbing in plenty o! the Ointment as salt is foreed into meat. This will cause the malignant humours to be drained off from the hard, swollen and discoloured parts | round about the wound, sore or ulcer, and when these humours are re- | moved the wounds themselves will soon heal; warm bread and water poultices applied over the affected parts, after the Ointment has been well rubbed in, will soothe and soften the same, and greatly assist the jcure. There is a descrip'ion of ulcer, sore, and swelling which need not | be named here, attendant upon the follies of youth, and for which this Ointment is urgently recommended asa sovereign remedy. In curing such poisonous sores it never fails to restore the system to a health) state if the Pills be taken according to the printed instructions. Diptheria, Ulcerated Sore Throat, and Scarlet and other Fevers- Any of the above diseases may be cured by well rubbing the Ointmen: three times a day into the chest, throat and neck of the patient; it wil! soon peretrate, and give immediate relief. Medicine taken by the mouth must operate upon the whole system ere its influence can be felt in any iocal part, whoreas the Ointment will do its work at once. Whoever tries the unguent in the above manner for the diseases named, or any similar disorders affecting the chest and throat, will find themselves re- | for the future will be carried on by W. B. Allan, who is em- lieved as by a charm. Al! sufferers from these complaints should en-| powered to collect in all debts and p: d : velope the throat at bed time in a large bread and water poultice after ne suid firm. ad pay all demande against the Ointment has been well rubbed in; and if the soles of the feet are likewise rubbed with the Ointment every night, it will greatly assist the eure of the throat and chest. To allay the fever and lessen inflamma- ion, eight or ten Pills should be taken night and morning The Ointment will produce perspiration, the grand essential in all cases of fevers, sore throats, or where there might be an oppression of the chest either from asthma or other causes. Piles, Fistulas, Strictures- The above class of complaints is surely removed by nightly fermenting ment. Persons suffering from these direful complaints should iose not a moment in arresting their progress. It should be understood that it is not sufficient merely to smear the Ointment on the affected parts, but it must be well rubbed in for scme considerable time two or three times a day, that it may be taken into the system, whence it will remove any hidden sore or wound as effectually as though palpable to the eye There again bread and water poultices, after the rubbing in of the Oint- ment, will do great service. This is the only sure treatment, for females, easos of cancer in the stomach, or where there may be a general bearing down. Imprudencies of Youth;---Sores and Ulcers. Blotches, as also swellings, oan with certainty be radically eured if | the Ointmont be used freely, and the Pills be taker night and morning | as recommended in the printed instructions. When treated in any other way they only dry up in one place to break out in another; whereas this Ointment will remove the humour irom the system, and leave the patient a vigorous and healthy being. It will require time with the use of the Pills to ensure a lasting cure. Dropsical Swellings, Paralysis and Stiff Joints. Although the above complaints differ widely in their origin and na- ture, yet they all require local treatment. Many of the worst cuses of such diseases will yield, in a comparatively short space of time, when this Ointment is diligently rubbed into the parts affected, even after every other means havd failed. In all serious maladies the Pills should be taken according tu the printed directions accompanying each box. Both the Ointment and Pills should be sed in the following cases: Bad Legs Chiego-foot Fistulas Sore-throats Bad Breasts Chilblains Gout [ings | Skin-diseases Surns Chapped Hands (Glandular Swell-|Seurvy Bunions Corns (Suit) |Luinbago Sore-eads Bite vf Mosche- Cancers |Piles )fumours toes and Sand-|Conutracted and) Rheumatism iUleers Flies Stuf Joints Sealds Wounds Coco-bay “lephantiasis Sore Nipples | Yaws Sold at the Establishment of Proresson Hour var, 244, Strand (near Temple Bar,) London; also by all respectable Druggists and Dealers in Medicines throughout the civilized worid, at the following prices:—1s 13d, 2s 9d, 4s 6d, 31s, 22s, and 33s each Pot. *,* here is a considerable saving by taking the larger sizes, N. What- vver be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitu- tion, descending * from parents <o children unto the third and fourth generation ;” indeed, it stems to be the rod of Him whv says, “I will visit the iniquitics of the fathers upon their chiltiien.” ts effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or uleerous matter, which, in the lings, iver, antl internal organs, is termed tuber- cles; in the glands, swellings; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other discases; con- requehtly, vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrof: lous in their nature, are still ren- dered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamina- tion; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persons are invaded by this lurking irifection, and their health is undermined by it. ‘To cleansé it from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we ~" AYER’S Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skil} of our times can devise for this every whete pre? vailing and fatal malady. It is combined ftoth the most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, and the fescue of the system frem its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not ony scrofula, but also other affections which arise from it, such as Ervrrive an? °xin Diszases, St. Anruony’s Fire, Rosz, or Exysireras, Piwertes, Pvustrceres, Biorcues, Brarys and Borrs, Tumors, Tetrer and Sarr Rueva, Scary Heap, Rrseworm, Ruevmatiem, Sypuititic and Mercurian Diszases, Dropsy, Dysrersia, Desruirty, and, indeed, att Complaints ARISING FROM VITIATED oR Impure Bioop. The pular belief in ‘‘ impurity of the blood” is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. ‘The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsepa- rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in con- taminated constitutions. Ayer’s Cathartic Pills, FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC, are so composed that disease within the range of their action can rarely withstand or evadethem. Their pen- etrating properties search, and cleanse, invigorate every portion of the human organism, correcting its diseased action, and restoring its healthy vitalities. As a consequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down with pain or physical debility is astonished to find his health or energy restored by a remedy at once so simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous diseases. The agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the follow- ing complaints: Costiveness, Heartburn, Headache, arising from disordered stomach, Nausea, Indigestion, Painin and Morbid Inaction of the Bowels, Flatulency, Loss of Appetite, Jaundice, and other kindred com- plaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruc- tion of its functions. When once tried, its superiority over every other medicine of its kind is too | apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ forthe distressing and dangerous. affections of the pulmonary organs that are incident to our climate. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have failed and been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the } afflicted they can never forget, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
